摘要: There is disclosed herein a universal clamp assembly for use in supporting and grasping medical appliances. The assembly includes a housing having means at one end for securing the assembly to a pole or other support. A pair of replaceable opposed arms extend outwardly from the other end of the housing and define a jaw for grasping the appliance. Each of the arms includes pivot means for pivotally securing the arms to the housing and permitting the arms to be moved between open and closed positions. Biasing means are positioned in the housing to cooperate with the arms to resiliently bias the arms toward a closed or grasping position which gives the jaws a snap action. The arms and biasing means are mounted for rotation about the longitudinal axis of the housing so as to permit positioning of the appliances at various attitudes which is desirable in debubbling a dialyzer. Furthermore, each of the arms is replaceable so as to permit use of the assembly with various types of appliances. An interlocking bracket and auxiliary clamp construction is also provided for securing auxiliary appliances to the universal clamp assembly. The bracket includes a pair of outwardly diverging ear-like members having shaped outer surfaces. The clamp includes a connector end having a pair of converging ears which are shaped for mating and releasable engagement with said bracket ears.

摘要: An mixing assembly which transfers a number of nutritional fluids from individual source containers into a collection container while noninvasively sensing the type of fluid being transferred is provided. The mixing assembly utilizes a transfer set to establish fluid communication between the source containers and the collection container. A sensing assembly is configured to noninvasively sense a number of the types of fluid flowing through the transfer set to help to prevent improper mixing. For other fluids for which the sensing assembly alone may not be able to distinguish with the desired accuracy, the mixing device utilizes a method to approximate the flow rate of that fluid with the flow rate also providing an indication of that type of fluid. By combining the output of the sensing assembly with the flow rate determination, additional fluids can be identified.

摘要: The present invention provides an improved transfer set for use in an automated compounding device. The transfer set comprises a plurality of fluid conduits, each fluid conduit including a first section and a second section, the first and second sections being coupled together in fluid communication by a coupler. A housing is provided for receiving at least a portion of the fluid conduits and the coupler. The housing defines separate channels for receiving a portion of the second section of each fluid conduit. The channels extend for a sufficient distance so that at least substantially an entire length of the second section that is located in the housing is located in a channel thereby securing the fluid conduits in place in the housing. An improved method for making a transfer set is also provided.

摘要: An ultrasonic detector, particularly useful in the level detection of blood within an arterial reservoir, is provided. The detector includes a pair of opposed arms for connection to the arterial reservoir. One of the arms carries a transmitting transducer while the other arm carries a receiving transducer facing the transmitting transducer. A clamping ring is slidable on both arms for forcing the arms toward each other when the ring is moved in one direction and for enabling the arms to move apart from each other when the ring is moved in the opposite direction.
