    Abstract: Embodiments of a Next Generation Node-B (gNB), User Equipment (UE) and methods of communication are generally described herein. A Master gNB (MgNB) may be arranged to operate in accordance with a New Radio (NR)-NR Dual Connectivity (NR-NR DC) arrangement with a Secondary gNB (SgNB). If the UE does not support per-frequency (per-FR) measurement gaps, the MgNB may configure a per-UE measurement gap for the UE for measurement of signals in a first frequency range and in a second frequency range. If the UE supports the per-FR measurement gaps, the MgNB may configure a first measurement gap in the first frequency range, and the SgNB may configure a second measurement gap in the second frequency range.

    Abstract: Provided herein is an apparatus and a method for congestion handling in RAN. The disclosure provides an apparatus for a relay node in a RAN including the relay node and a donor node providing an interface to a core network and a backhaul link to the relay node. The apparatus includes a RF interface to receive and transmit downlink data for one or more UEs or UE bearers; and a processing circuitry coupled with the RF interface. The processing circuitry is to determine a downlink congestion occurs at the relay node; and generate a downlink congestion indication to identify a UE or a UE bearer or a backhaul RLC channel affected by the downlink congestion. The RF interface is to transmit the downlink congestion indication to the donor node. In addition to the downlink congestion handling, the relay node can also be to handle uplink congestion in a similar way.

    Abstract: Embodiments of a generation Node-B (gNB), User Equipment (UE) and methods to configure measurement gaps are generally described herein. A serving cell gNB may transmit, to a neighbor cell gNB, a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) status request message and may receive, from the neighbor cell gNB 105, a CSI-RS status update message. The serving cell gNB may determine, based on timing information in the CSI-RS status update message, a measurement gap to be reserved for transmission of CSI-RS from the neighbor cell gNB to a UE that is served by the serving cell gNB. The serving cell gNB may transmit, to the UE, control signaling that indicates the measurement gap. The serving cell gNB may receive, from the UE, a measurement report that indicates a signal quality measurement based on the CSI-RS from the neighbor cell gNB.

    Abstract: Techniques to configure a user equipment (UE) for a multi-connectivity handover with a source base station (SBS) and a target base station (TBS) include encoding a measurement report for transmission to the SBS. The measurement report is triggered based on a measurement event configured by the SBS. Radio resource control (RRC) signaling from the SBS is decoded, the RRC signaling including a handover command in response to the measurement report. The handover command includes an indication for multi-connectivity support by the SBS and the TBS during the handover. A first protocol stack associated with the SBS and a second protocol stack associated with the TBS are configured at the UE. A packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) protocol data unit (PDU) received at the UE during the handover is processed using the first protocol stack or the second protocol stack.
