Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to determine an estimated location of a user equipment (UE). For instance, a UE can provide a positioning request to a node while the UE is in a radio resource control idle (RRC_IDLE) or inactive (RRC_INACTIVE) state. The positioning request can be implemented in a random access channel (RACH) message A (MsgA). The UE can then receive a positioning response from the node. The positioning response can be implemented in a RACH message B (MsgB).

Abstract: A method and device are disclosed for performing collision resolution in a two-step random access channel (RACH) process. In such a process, an MsgA PUSCH signal and a grant based PUSCH signal may collide. When such a collision is detected, either the MsgA PUSCH signal or the grant based PUSCh signal are dropped. The other of the two signals is then transmitted. The determination regarding which signal to drop can be based on a set of rules stored in memory.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for implementing power control in a 2-step random access channel (RACH) procedure, including implementing power control during MsgA transmission of the 2-step RACH procedure. For example, a user equipment (UE) determines a transmission power for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission based on a transmission power of a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble that is associated with the PUSCH transmission during the 2-step RACH procedure. The UE further performs the 2-step RACH procedure using the determined transmission power of the PUSCH to establish a connection to the wireless network.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and techniques for random access in a wireless communication network are described. A described technique performed by a user equipment (UE) includes transmitting a first message of a two-step random access procedure to a node of a wireless communication network; receiving, in response to the first message, a downlink control information (DCI) message via a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) and a second message of the two-step random access procedure via a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) in accordance with the DCI message; determining, by the UE, a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resource based on the second message; and transmitting, by the UE, hybrid automatic repeat request-acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) feedback for the second message on the determined PUCCH resource.

Abstract: This disclosure describes improving a 4-step RACH procedure by using a 2-step RACH procedure. A UE transmits a PRACH preamble and associated MsgA physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) on a configured time and frequency resource. After successful detection of the PRACH preamble, and decoding of the MsgA PUSCH, the gNB transmits MsgB in the second step. Generally, a mapping is used between the PRACH preamble and the PUSCH resource unit for 2-step RACH. This disclosure describes the mapping for 2-step RACH.
