Abstract: Some aspects include an apparatus, method, and computer program product for facilitating control messaging for multi-beam communications in 5G wireless communication systems. Nodes of a 5G network may be generate Medium Access Control Control Elements (MAC CEs) to update User Equipment (UE) with different Component Carrier (CC) settings. The MAC CEs may update a list of CCs to reduce messaging overhead and latency. For example, a MAC CE may indicate an update for a Transmission Configuration Indication (TCI) state for a list of CCs. Similarly, a MAC CE may be used to update a spatial relation for a Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) resource set and/or a SRS resource corresponding to a list of CCs. A MAC CE may also be used to update multiple TCI codepoints having one or two TCI states in a multi-Transmission Reception Point (multi-TRP) scenario.

Abstract: Techniques, described herein, include solutions for enabling a user equipment (UEs) to operate in a power saving mode (PSM) by performing radio link monitoring (RLM), beam failure detection (BFD), and radio resource management (RRM) based on one or more reference signals with a decreased periodicity. The reference signals may include system synchronizations blocks (SSBs), a channel state information (CSI) m signal (CSI-RSs), or a combination thereof. A base station may be configured to operate as a master cell group (MCG) node or a secondary cell group (SCG) node and may transmit reference signals with an increased periodicity to UEs in an active mode of operation while also transmitting reference signals with a decreased periodicity to UEs in a PSM.

Abstract: Methods to enhance the coverage of NR systems for coverage-limited wireless devices are disclosed. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, information indicating that a coverage enhancement mode is supported. The UE may determine whether to enter the coverage enhancement mode based on a downlink signal synchronization block (DL SSB). In response to determining to enter the coverage enhancement mode, the UE may transmit a reserved preamble to the base station to initiate random access for the coverage enhancement mode.

Abstract: Systems and methods for using a relay user equipment (UE) to transport data of interest received from a first remote UE to a second remote UE on a UE to UE relay within a wireless communication system are discussed herein. These methods may be performed at Layer 2 of a protocol stack of the wireless communication system. Data packets sent on the UE to UE relay may include an adaptation header including routing information (e.g., Layer 2 addresses, a bearer-specific index, etc.) for the UE to UE relay. An adaptation layer may accordingly be provided within Layer 2 to decode these adaptation headers. In some cases, a per-bearer approach may be used to map between individual direct bearers of a hop by hop path configuration of the UE to UE relay. Embodiments eschewing the adaptation header and instead using logical channel identifiers (LCIDs) to make routing indications are also described.

Abstract: A UE may coordinate the use of a low Power Wake-Up Radio (LR) and a main radio (MR) to determine a Radio Resource Management (RRM) measurement. The UE may enter a deep sleep state by turning off a MR and turning on a LR. The UE may measure the serving cell quality when in the deep sleep state, and enter a normal state by turning on the MR, when the serving cell quality is less than a threshold. The UE may perform a neighbor cell measurement, when in the normal state when a serving cell measurement meets a criteria.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for enhancement of MBMS transmission reliability. A UE may receive PDCP PDUs via a PTM link from a network. The UE may determine to provide feedback regarding receipt of the PDCP PDUs, e.g., based, at least in part, on an occurrence of a triggering event. The triggering event may be configured by the network and may include the UE receiving a request for feedback from the network, the UE determining that at least one PDCP PDU is missing, the UE determining that a number of missing PDCP PDUs exceeds a threshold, and/or the UE determining that a PDCP reordering window is changing based on expiration of a PDCP reordering timer. The UE may transmit feedback associated with receipt of the PDCP PDUs. The feedback may include an indication of missing PDCP PDUs, e.g., such as an indication of a sequence number associated with missing PDCP PDUs.
