Abstract: Measurement accuracy in sports is improved. A wrist terminal includes a measurement information acquiring unit, a reference atmospheric pressure setting unit, and a state determining unit. The reference atmospheric pressure setting unit sets a reference atmospheric pressure. The state determining unit determines that the wrist terminal is located over water when a difference between the reference atmospheric pressure and a current atmospheric pressure after starting sports is within a predetermined atmospheric pressure range and the wrist terminal is located under water when the difference is outside the predetermined atmospheric pressure range. The measurement information acquiring unit 51 performs predetermined measurement on the basis of the determination result from the state determining unit 54.

Abstract: A map information providing apparatus and method are provided. Second map information of a second map range is acquired from an external apparatus having first map information of a first map range. A portable map transmitting apparatus having third map information of a third map range is communicated with the map information providing apparatus. The third map range is wider than the second map range. The second map range is narrower than the first map range. It is determined whether it is possible to provide predetermined map information corresponding to predetermined position information based on the second map information to the map information providing apparatus. If so, communication with the portable map transmitting apparatus is controlled to receive the third map information. The second map information is updated based on the third map information and the predetermined map information is acquired from the updated second map information.

Abstract: In a wrist terminal 1, the measurement information acquiring unit 51 acquires position information. The first timing detection unit 52 detects a standby state for a sport. The second timing detection unit 53 detects predetermined start timing of the sport. If the first timing detection unit 52 detects the standby state, the recording control unit 54 makes the measurement information acquiring unit 51 start acquiring position information to continue acquiring position information sequentially at predetermined intervals. If the second timing detection unit 53 detects the predetermined start timing, the recording control unit 54 stores position information being part of the position information already acquired by the measurement information acquiring unit 51 and corresponding to the predetermined start timing into a ROM 16 or a removable medium 31.
