    Abstract: A method for monitoring a belt drive with a power-transmitting endless drive belt which is in the form of a traction belt and wraps around the drive and driven pulleys circumferentially over a partial circumference in each case, wherein the belt has at least one first marking and a first sensor element assigned to the belt is provided and is used to detect the passage of the first marking during the belt revolution, wherein the first sensor element has devices for outputting a signal SR dependent on the detection of the first marking, wherein the rotor of the drive motor has a second marking and a second sensor element which is provided with corresponding electronic devices and is assigned to the drive motor is provided, wherein, while the rotor is rotating, the passage of the second marking is detected by the second sensor element and a signal SM dependent on the detection of the second marking is output, wherein, furthermore, a computing unit provided with memories and processors for processing the signals SR and SM is provided, wherein a temporal or local correlation of the occurrence of the signals SR and SM is calculated in the computing unit when the drive belt is new and is stored as a reference value, and the associated signals SR and SM are then repeatedly determined for further specified belt revolutions or periods of time and their current temporal or local correlation of the occurrence is compared with the reference value.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a drive belt for a traction mechanism drive, having a radially externally arranged top layer (4) composed of a fiber-containing elastomer or of an elastomer comprising a fiber mesh, having a radially centrally arranged tension member layer (6) composed of a wound tension strand or a plurality of circumferentially oriented tension strands, and a radially internally arranged substructure (8) composed of an elastomer, wherein at least one wedge-shaped rib is integrally formed in the substructure (8), a coating layer (10) composed of a circumferentially open fiber mesh being applied to the outer surfaces of said wedge-shaped rib. In order to prevent an abrupt change in the friction coefficient at the force-transmitting flanks of the ribs, provision is made for the circumferential ends (12, 14) of the coating layer (10) and a parting joint (16), which is filled by the elastomer of the substructure (8), between said circumferential ends (12, 14) of the coating layer (10) to be covered with a transverse strip (18) composed of a vulcanizable material, wherein said vulcanizable material has a reduced friction coefficient in relation to the elastomer of the substructure (8).

    Abstract: The invention relates to a belt (1) having a rear surface (2), having a data transmission device (3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10), wherein the data transmission device (3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) has at least one sensor (6) having an energy supply and at least one external reader (9). The invention is based on the object of designing the data transmission device mentioned at the outset such that data from a moving belt (1) are able to be reliably transmitted to a stationary receiver (9). This object is achieved in that spaced signal surfaces (3) are arranged on the rear surface (2) of the belt (1) in the running direction of the belt (1), and each signal surface (3) is able to be switched either into a first active state or into a second inactive state by the sensor (6), wherein a positive signal is able to be transmitted in the first active state and either a negative signal or no signal is able to be transmitted in the second inactive state, and the respective state of the signal surfaces (3) is able to be acquired by the external reader (9) when the moving belt (1) runs past. Since only one item of binary information is able to be transmitted per signal surface (3), the information density, even when the signal surfaces (3) run past the reader (9) at high speed, is low enough that it is possible to reliably acquire the states of the signal surfaces (3). Reliable acquisition of the data to be transmitted by the sensor (6) is thereby guaranteed, even when the belt (1) is running at high speed.

    Abstract: A method for making a V-ribbed belt is made by inserting a first partial blank in the form of a base tube into a cylindrical vulcanization mold having a negative of a V-ribbed profile. The first partial blank is molded into a surrounding negative and thus provided with the V-ribbed profile without vulcanization. A second partial blank made as a top ply tube with a tension strand is inserted into the virtually completely molded-in base tube and is expanded under heat and pressure so that the top ply tube and the base tube are bonded to one another. Thereafter, the latter is molded into the surrounding negative of the vulcanization mold, and the top ply tube and the base tube are vulcanized to form a V-ribbed blank, whereafter the V-ribbed blank is removed from the vulcanization mold and is fed to the cutting device.
