    摘要: A transparency of a panel of the invention is secured to an recess in a vehicle by biasing the panel toward a hole in the recess defined by an end of a flange, and fixedly mounting the panel to the flange in less than 10 minutes. In one embodiment, the transparency is secured to the recess from a position within the vehicle. In another embodiment, the panel is replaced by providing access to the hole and moving the mounting devices toward the hole to engage the flange to fixedly secure the panel over the hole. When a prior art broken transparency is replaced, the broken transparency and the structural adhesive is removed, and a panel of the invention is mounted over the hole. When an unbroken panel of the invention is to be replaced, the inner trim from the recess is removed, and the mounting devices released from the flange.

    摘要: A mounting device includes a base having a first major surface and a second opposite major surface; a supporting member having a supporting surface connected to the base, and spaced from and facing away from the base, and an engaging member having an engaging surface in facing relationship to the supporting surface. The engaging member is connected to the base and the supporting member such that moving the supporting member toward the base moves the engaging member toward the base. A biasing force, e.g. a spring or movement of the supporting member, biases the engaging surface toward the supporting surface. The mounting devices can be mounted on a surface of a substrate, e.g. an automotive transparency, to provide a panel, and the panels can be fixedly secured over an opening, e.g. an opening the body of a vehicle, without the use of structural adhesive.

    摘要: A variable speed transmission of the continuously variable type. The transmission includes an input pulley having primary and secondary sheaves and an output pulley having primary and secondary sheaves. The primary and secondary sheaves of the input pulley are mounted on a first axle shaft carried by an actuator plate and the primary and secondary sheaves of the output pulley are carried on a second axle shaft carried by the actuator plate. The input shaft of the transmission carries pin mounted roller bearings which are received in skewed slots in an actuator sleeve so that the actuator sleeve is moved axially along the input shaft in response to variations in torque loading. The actuator plate is annular and includes a central circumferential groove receiving pin mounted roller bearings carried by the actuator sleeve so that the actuator plate, and the axle shafts carried thereby, undergoes the same axial movement as the actuator sleeve in response to variations in torque loading. One sheave of each pulley is fixedly mounted on the respective axle shaft and the other sheave is slidably and rotatably mounted on the shaft. The mounting of the pulleys on the respective axle shafts is such that axial movement of the actuator plate has the effect of moving the sheaves of one pulley apart and simultaneously moving the sheaves of the other pulley together whereby to cause the entrained drive belt to move radially outwardly relative to the sheaves of one pulley while moving radially inwardly with respect to the sheaves of the other pulley whereby to change the drive ratio of the transmission.

    摘要: A variable speed transmission of the continuously variable type. The transmission includes an input pulley having primary and secondary sheaves and an output pulley having primary and secondary sheaves. The primary and secondary sheaves of the input pulley are mounted on a first axle shaft carried by an actuator plate and the primary and secondary sheaves of the output pulley are carried on a second axle shaft carried by the actuator plate. One sheave of each pulley is fixedly mounted on the respective axle shaft and the other sheave is slidably and rotatably mounted on the shaft. The mounting of the pulleys on the respective axle shafts is such that axial movement of the actuator plate has the effect of moving the sheaves of one pulley apart and simultaneously moving the sheaves of the other pulley together whereby to cause the entrained drive belt to move radially outwardly relative to the sheaves of one pulley while moving radially inwardly with respect to the sheaves of the other pulley whereby to change the drive ratio of the transmission.
