摘要: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for a shared object lock under state machine control. An operating system or virtual machine environment can host a set of multiple executing threads, and provide those threads with mutual access to one or more objects such as storage objects, memory objects, or others. The threads can independently request that the object be locked or unlocked, and the locked or unlocked state can be shared between the threads. Rather than communicate with the object(s) directly, in embodiments the threads communicate with a state machine that in turn controls the state of the object(s). When a request to change the state of the object(s) is received, the state machine can permit the object(s) to change between locked, unlocked, or other states based on the current state of the machine and the received message. Contention between threads can be reduced or eliminated.

摘要: A loan management system, which may be used to manage mortgages, includes a mortgage arrangement or “product” definition means for defining different data processing operations to be performed on different mortgages. Different sets of control data may be provided in, or linked to, the product definition means so as to control transactions relating to the product in a manner defined by the corresponding control data. In this way, transactions on different mortgages may be handled in different ways. Using the system it is possible to set up and manage many different kinds of offset—type mortgage arrangements in which the values of funds defined internally in the computer system may vary, for example in accordance with outside indices, and may be offset against outstanding capital and/or interest in a variety of different ways in different mortgages managed by the system.

摘要: A method and apparatus for the casting of a composite metal ingot comprising at least two separately formed layers of one or more alloys. An open ended annular mould has a feed end and an exit end and divider wall for dividing the feed end into at least two separate feed chambers, where each feed chamber is adjacent at least one other feed chamber. For each pair of adjacent feed chambers a first alloy stream is fed through one of the pair of feed chambers into the mould and a second alloy stream is fed through another of the feed chambers. A self-supporting surface is generated on the surface of the first alloy stream and the second alloy stream is contacted with the first stream such that the upper surface of the second alloy stream is maintained at a position such that it first contacts the self-supporting surface where the self-supporting surface temperature is between the liquidus and solidus temperatures of the first alloy or it first contacts the self-supporting surface where the self-supporting surface temperature is below the solidus temperatures of the first alloy but the interface between the two alloys is then reheated to between the liquidus and solidus temperatures, whereby the two alloy streams are joined as two layers. The joined alloy layers are then cooled to form a composite ingot. This composite ingot has a substantially continuous metallurgical bond between alloy layers with dispersed particles of one or more intermetallic compositions of the first alloy in a region of the second alloy adjacent the interface. The combination of an alloy of high strength bonded to a surface layer of higher ductility gives a sheet of improved bendability compared to the high strength alloy used alone.

摘要: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for invoking serialized data streams. A requester, such as a client computer, can request a set of data from a proxy server using a marker object containing references to remote data sources. The requester and proxy server can each host a handler object to manage marker objects communicated between the two. After receipt of the data request, the proxy server can communicate with the remote data source to initiate a serialized data stream from the remote data source to the requester. In embodiments, the marker object can indicate that the source data hosted on the remote data server should be transmitted directly to the requester, and be streamed in continuous fashion rather than be divided into pieces of data requiring separate requests. In embodiments, marker objects can be nested within other marker objects to invoke multiple serialized streams.

摘要: A seat assembly for a motor vehicle includes an air suspension system for effectively isolating the occupant of the seat from shock, vibration and inertial forces directed along both a vertical axis and a horizontal axis. A base plate is mounted to the floor of the vehicle and supports first and second pairs of sleeve bearings on opposed sides of a box-like housing. The housing itself is attached to a pair of guide rods which cooperate with the sleeve bearings to provide fore and aft movement of the housing. Springs operating in cooperation with a first horizontally disposed air bag serves to dampen out inertial forces on the vehicle seat. The seat itself it support atop a vertically oriented air spring and a plurality of hydraulic vibration dampeners that tend to cushion vertically directed force spectors acting upon the seat and its occupant.

摘要: A sleeping bed for a motor vehicle which is effectively isolated from jars and vibrations encountered during highway travel comprises a movable frame which is supported by inflatable air bags from a stationary frame affixed to the floor of the vehicle. Three position valves control the in-flow and out-flow of air from the air bags, the valve being mechanically coupled by linkages to the movable frame so that its relative displacement controls the pressure within the air bag. The movable frame is supported on the pistons of the air bags by first and second slide members which permit longitudinal and transverse horizontal movement of the movable frame. Springs are employed to restore the movable frame to a neutral horizontal position following acceleration/deceleration forces tending to move the movable frame and mattress in the fore and aft direction and when longitudinal sway forces act on the bed. Effectively coupled in parallel with the air bags and the spring assemblies are hydraulic or air cylinders which function as dampeners to prevent extreme overshoot and/or oscillation of the movable frame following a sudden displacement.
