Abstract:
An automatic debris removal apparatus for a wiper system that removes soluble and insoluble debris trapped between the wiper blade and the glass surface by lifting the wiper blade off the glass surface and then causing the wiper blade to drop onto the glass surface as a shake under urge of the biasing spring of the wiper arm, so as to thereby provide a shaking action which frees any trapped debris. An actuator selectively interacts with the pivotal portion of the wiper arm to effect shaking of the wiper arm to thereby free the wiper blade of the debris.
Abstract:
A seal molding configured for minimizing a first perceivable gap having a first width between a vitreous element and a body panel of a vehicle includes a first portion configured for abutting the vitreous element and a second portion configured for abutting the body panel and including an elongated flexible segment and a protrusion projecting away from the segment. The second portion is configured for flexing toward the first portion to define an alternative gap having a second width that is smaller than the first width to thereby minimize the first perceivable gap between the vitreous element and the body panel. A vehicle includes a body panel, a vitreous element having an outer surface and spaced apart from the body panel to define the first perceivable gap, and the seal molding disposed between and in contact with the vitreous element and the body panel.
Abstract:
A locating device for use with a first component fastenable to a second component by a fastener has a tab configured to be mounted with respect to the fastener when the fastener extends through an opening in the second component to retain the fastener to the second component. A method of assembling components is also provided.
Abstract:
A multi-nozzle spray head washer fluid delivery system which utilizes both a wide spray pattern nozzle and a narrow spray pattern nozzle to provide selective adjustment of the spray pattern delivered to the surface of the windshield. A control system incorporates either or both of an autonomous selection of spray pattern and driver selection of spray pattern.
Abstract:
A gooseneck hinge assembly for a closure of a vehicle includes a body side strap adapted to be connected to a vehicle body of the vehicle and a closure side strap having a gooseneck shape adapted to be connected to a closure for closing an opening in the vehicle body. The gooseneck hinge assembly also includes a pivot pin pivotally connecting the closure side strap and the body side strap to allow rotational movement therebetween. The gooseneck hinge assembly further includes a wedge bumper interconnecting the body side strap and the closure side strap to allow the decklid to free rise to a fully open position and to dampen an impact of the closure side strap.

A gooseneck hinge assembly for a closure of a vehicle includes a body side bracket adapted to be connected to a vehicle body of the vehicle and a closure side bracket having a gooseneck shape adapted to be connected to a closure for closing an aperture in the vehicle body. The gooseneck hinge assembly also includes a pivot pin to pivotally connect the closure side bracket to the body side bracket to allow rotational movement therebetween. The gooseneck hinge assembly further includes a torque rod adapted to be connected to another one of the closure side bracket, and a torque rod assembly connected to the body side bracket and the torque rod and being infinitely adjustable to counterbalance a weight of the closure when opening and closing the aperture.
Abstract:
An attachment member including an integral adhesive channel and a method of adhering an attachment member to a substrate includes adhering the member to the substrate using a first adhesive attached to the member to form a gap between the substrate and a bonding surface of the member defined by a perimeter edge. The first adhesive may be a pressure sensitive adhesive. The member defines a channel including a first opening configured to receive a second adhesive, which may be a flowable adhesive. The channel includes a second opening in fluid communication with the bonding surface. After adhering the member to the substrate with the first adhesive, the flowable adhesive is dispensed through the channel and into the gap such that the dispensed flowable adhesive is contained in the gap within the perimeter edge of the bonding surface. The flowable adhesive forms a bond between the substrate and the member.
