The invention relates to a diversity reception system for motor vehicles for digitally modulated terrestrial and/or satellite radio signals in a frequency range above 1 GHz. The system includes an antenna arrangement which supplies the reception signal to a radio receiver. The antenna arrangement is an antenna system having several individual antennas and several antenna components, and contains a controllable logic switching device. The individual antennas and the several antenna components are positioned on the vehicle so that different reception signals are available at the antenna connection point via discrete switching positions of a controllable logic switch. A reception level testing device comparatively determines the reception level contained in the data flow in the HF-channel with an HF channel bandwidth B. The level testing device is designed so that when initiated by the symbol cycle generated in the receiver and during the simultaneously occurring symbol identification of the received flow of data, the reception level is determined in each case within the shortest possible level testing duration.

An IF signal (9), derived from this reception signal turns on a diversity processor (4), which switches the logic switch (2) into a different switching position in response to reception interference. The diversity processor (4) has a first interference detector (6) whose momentary interference indicator signal (10) is obtained without delay from the momentary value of the IF signal (9), which is limited to the IF bandwidth, by means of determining the interference-related occurrence of impermissible momentary values of the frequency and amplitude of this signal. A second interference detector (7) is present, whose interference indicator signal (11) is obtained from the same IF signal (9), but from time-integral determination of the interference signal contents in frequency gaps kept free of the wanted signal according to the signal standardization of the FM multiplex signals of the FM demodulated IF reception signal (9a), The two interference indicator signals (10, 11) are passed to a logic circuit (8) to evaluate the signals and produce a logic control signal (12) to control the logic switch (2), so that a different switching positions are selected at the earliest possible time after the occurrence of interference in the reception signal.

The received signal has the same phase on the output of the phase-shifter as in the first signal path. The two received signals are added up in a phase-coincident manner in a summation circuit, and the added-up signal is supplied to the FM frequency modulator. The multi-antenna system contains a controllable logic circuit, so that a received signal that is different in terms of diversity, is supplied in each case to at least one of the two inputs of the receiver in different switching positions assumed by the selector switches, and the added-up signal is supplied to an interference detector for extremely rapid detection of an added-up signal disturbed by a frequency swing. Thus, in the presence of a reception interference, the interference-detecting signal of the interference detector actuates the logic switching device to another switching position, and wherein the phase-controller serves as a low-pass filter for limiting the speed of the phase control.
