Abstract: An imaging apparatus includes: an imaging element; an imaging controller; a signal output controller; and an imaging condition determination section as defined herein, the signal output controller divides the first imaging signal stored in the storage section into a plurality of groups and sequentially outputs the first imaging signal from the imaging element for each of the groups, and the imaging controller causes the sensor section to perform the temporary imaging by performing the temporary imaging control, during a period from when all the imaging signals belonging to at least one of the groups are output from the imaging element until all the imaging signals belonging to all the groups are output from the imaging element, and determines the exposure condition at the temporary imaging based on the imaging signal stored in the storage section through the imaging performed by the sensor section before the actual imaging.

Abstract: There are provided an imaging device and a method of controlling the imaging device that can shorten the blackout period of a live view image in a case where a front curtain and a rear curtain are moved to continuously take static images. In a case where continuous shooting is performed, a focal-plane shutter is shifted to a normally open state to allow a live view image to be displayed during the continuous shooting. A front curtain-electromagnet and a rear curtain-electromagnet are excited to prevent the rotational movement of a second front curtain-drive lever and a second rear curtain-drive lever in a first direction after the focal-plane shutter is shifted to the normally open state; first curtain travel preparation for causing the second front curtain-drive lever and the rear curtain-drive lever to be moved to non-charge positions from charge positions is performed to release the prevention of the travel of the front curtain in a closing direction, which is performed by the front curtain-locking lever, from a point of time later than a point of time when the first curtain travel preparation is to be started; and second curtain travel preparation for causing the front curtain to travel in the closing direction to fully close an exposure aperture portion is performed.

Abstract: In one aspect of the present invention, when reset of a camera is received, a pan motor and a tilt motor of a pan and tilt mechanism are rotated in a first preset rotation direction, and the pan and tilt mechanism is first moved to a pan reference position and a tilt reference position. Thereafter, the pan motor and the tilt motor are rotated in a second rotation direction opposite to the first rotation direction, and the pan and tilt mechanism is moved to an initial pan position and an initial tilt position. Using a movement of the pan and tilt mechanism to initial pan and tilt positions, detection of a subject for automatic tracking is performed, and if the subject is detected, then transition to an automatic tracking state is caused to occur.
