Abstract: An embodiment provides a method for transferring information from at least one instrument to an application, including: establishing a central protocol structure, wherein the central protocol structure defines a format for information transmitted utilizing the central protocol structure; transmitting over a short-range wireless communication channel information from the at least one device to the application, wherein the information is formatted in a broadcast packet in view of the central protocol structure; receiving, at the application, information from the at least one device; and performing, within the application, an action with respect to the information within the application, wherein the performing comprises deciphering the information contained in view of the central protocol structure.

Abstract: An embodiment provides a method for measuring pH in an aqueous sample with a frit-less electrode, including: introducing an aqueous sample into a measurement device comprising at least three electrodes, wherein at least one electrode of the at least three electrodes comprises a ground rod electrode, wherein at least one electrode of the at least three electrodes comprises a first measurement electrode, and wherein at least one electrode of the at least three electrodes comprises a second measurement electrode; measuring a first electrical potential between the first measurement electrode and the ground rod electrode in the aqueous sample; measuring a second electrical potential between the second measurement electrode and the ground rod electrode in the aqueous sample; and identifying a pH of the aqueous sample based upon a difference between the first electrical potential and the second electrical potential. Abstract: An embodiment provides a method for measuring at least one characteristic of an aqueous sample, including: introducing an aqueous sample into a measurement device comprising one or more electrodes; oxidizing a transition metal to produce a higher valent metal by applying an electrical potential between an anode and a cathode of the measurement device; oxidizing, using the higher valent metal as a catalyst, a material within the aqueous sample; measuring a characteristic of the aqueous sample based upon the oxidized material, using a measurement device selected from the group consisting of: an electrochemical measurement device and an optical measurement device; and optimizing the electrical potential and at least one reagent delivered to the measurement device based on the measurement of the characteristic. Abstract: One embodiment provides a method, including: initiating, at a generator electrode in an electrode array having a collector electrode adjacent to but physically separate from the generator electrode, a reduction reaction for an oxygen containing species and a monochloramine species present in a water sample; said initiating comprising generating, at the generator electrode, a generator current producing the reduction reaction; detecting, at the collector electrode, a collector current associated with products formed from the reduction reaction; wherein the electrode array is biased to preferentially detect one or more products of the reduction reaction; and determining, by comparing the generator current with the collector current, concentrations of oxygen containing species and monochloramine species present in the water sample.

Abstract: A carbon quantifying cell configured to receive a fluid is provided, including two or more electrodes positioned at least partially in the fluid, and meter electronics configured to place an electrical oxidization, polarization, and/or adsorption program across the two or more electrodes and at least partially oxidize carbon materials in the fluid, apply an AC voltage of a predetermined amplitude across the two or more electrodes, measuring the resulting AC current across the two or more electrodes, wherein a ratio of amplitudes and a phase angle difference provides information for calculating a fluid impedance, receive an electrical response of the fluid to the electrical oxidization, polarization, and/or adsorption program, quantify the carbon materials in the fluid using the electrical response, and detect interfering materials in the fluid using the fluid impedance.
