Abstract: Described herein is a process for preparing a flexible packaging material comprising contacting a first flexible material of a layered substrate with an intermediate transfer member; wherein the layered substrate comprises the first flexible material and a thermally activatable laminating material disposed on the first flexible material; transferring an electrophotographic ink composition from a photoimaging plate onto the thermally activatable laminating material of the layered substrate on the intermediate transfer member to form an image layer on the thermally activatable laminating material; and contacting, under conditions of heat and/or pressure, the image layer with a second flexible material thereby forming the flexible packaging material. Also described herein is an electrophotographic printer for use in the process for preparing a flexible packaging material.

Abstract: In an example of a method for making polymer-encapsulated metallic ink pigment particles, a layer of a transparent resin dispersion is disposed on a flexible substrate. The resin dispersion layer is substantially dried, and a base resin layer is formed. A slurry is disposed onto the base resin layer. The slurry includes metallic pigment particles and polymer particles dispersed in a non-aqueous carrier. The slurry is dried to form a metallic pigment-polymer sheet. Another layer of the transparent resin dispersion is disposed on the metallic pigment-polymer sheet and is dried. A coating resin layer is formed. The metallic pigment-polymer sheet and the base and coating transparent resin layers form a tri-layer film having the metallic pigment particles encapsulated between the base and coating transparent resin layers.

Abstract: A liquid electrophotographic (LEP) ink composition is described. Abstract: A system for automatic cleaning in a liquid ink printing system includes an ink tank, a pump which is configured pump a carrier liquid from the ink tank as a pressurized carrier liquid flow. A filter is configured to remove particulates from the pressurized carrier liquid flow to produce a filtered carrier liquid flow. A sprayer is configured to receive the filtered carrier liquid flow and spray the filtered carrier liquid flow into an interior of the ink tank. The pump recirculates the filtered carrier liquid flow through the filter and the sprayer. A method for automatic cleaning in a printing system is also included.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods of fluid delivery for liquid electrophotography printing. A fluid delivery apparatus includes a charged ink source, a supplemental fluid source, a working suspension tank in fluid communication with the charged ink source and the supplemental fluid source, a sensor, and an optical density control unit. The charged ink source is to store a charged ink mixture including charge directors and toner particles. The supplemental fluid source is to store a supplemental fluid including imaging oil. The working suspension tank is to store a working suspension mixture including the charge directors, the toner particles, and the imaging oil. The sensor is to monitor an optical density of print output of the liquid electrophotography printing apparatus. The optical density control unit is to determine whether to supply an uncharged ink mixture to the working suspension tank in response to the monitored optical density indicating electrical fatigue.
