THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITIONS HAVING EXCELLENT INJECTION MOULDING PROPERTIES ARE OBTAINED FROM LINEAR SATURATED POLYESTERS AND ALKALI METAL SALTS OF ORGANIC PHOSPHONIC ACIDS, THE MONOESTERS THEREOF, OF ORGANIC PHOSPHONOUS ACIDS OR OF ORGANIC PHOSPHINIC ACIDS, THE ORGANIC RADICALS BEING SATURATED OR UNSATURATED ALKYL, CYCLOALKYL, ARYL, OR ARALYKYL GROUPS HAVING UP TO 15 CARBON ATOMS.

The present invention relates to polyester molding compositions from linear saturated polyesters, inert inorganic solid materials and 2,3-epoxy propanol esters of polyfunctional carboxylic acids of the formula WHICH MOLDING COMPOSITIONS MAY BE WORKED UP IN THE THERMOPLASTIC RANGE AND FROM WHICH MOLDED ARTICLES CAN BE MADE WHICH ARE FREE FROM FLASH-FORMATION.

A PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF LINEAR SATURATED POLYESTERS OF AROMATIC DICARBOXYLIC ACIDS AND SATURATED ALIPHATIC OR CYCLOALIPHATIC DIOLS, USING CARBOXYLIC ACID MANGANESE SALTS AS TRANSESTERIFICATION CATALYSTS, WHICH CONTAIN FROM 3 TO 20 CARBON ATOMS IN THE ANION AND AN EPOXY GROUP. THE SAID POLYESTERS ARE SUITABLE FOR INJECTIONMOULDING PURPOSES.

MOULDING COMPOSITIONS ARE PREPARED ON THE BASIS OF LINEAR SATURATED POLYESTERS, INERT INORGANIC SOLID SUBSTANCES, AND ALKALI METAL ARALKYL SULFONATES, WHICH ARE SUITABLE FOR PROCESS IN THE THERMOPLASTIC RANGE, AND FROM WHICH SHAPED ARTICLES HAVING GOOD MECHANICAL PROPERTIES CAN BE MANUFACTURED EXHIBITING A VERY GOOD SURFACE QUALITY AND NOT SHOWING ANY DISCOLORATION, WHICH COME OFF THE MOULD ALREADY AFTER A SHORT DWELL TIME IN THE MOULD, A FACT THAT MAKES THEM PARTICULARLY SUITABLE FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF COMPLEX SHAPED ARTICLES.
