Abstract: An example electro-optical modulator includes an electrode conversion portion and an optical modulation portion. The electrode conversion portion includes a first input electrode and a second input electrode, where the first input electrode is configured to receive a first modulation signal, and the second input electrode is configured to receive a second modulation signal. The optical modulation portion includes a first modulation electrode, a second modulation electrode, a third modulation electrode, a first modulation arm, and a second modulation arm. The first modulation arm is between the first modulation electrode and the second modulation electrode, and the second modulation arm is between the first modulation electrode and the third modulation electrode. The first modulation electrode is coupled to the first input electrode, and the second modulation electrode and the third modulation electrode are separately coupled to the second input electrode.

Abstract: An example chip may include a substrate, an insulation layer located on a side of the substrate, and a first waveguide and a second waveguide that are in the insulation layer. The second waveguide is located on a side of the first waveguide away from the substrate. A transmission loss of the second waveguide is smaller than a transmission loss of the first waveguide. Abstract: An optical waveguide component, a preparation method therefor, and an electro-optic modulator are disclosed. The optical waveguide component includes an insulating substrate, a waveguide core, at least two electrodes, and a cladding layer. The at least two electrodes and the waveguide core are all disposed on the insulating substrate, the at least two electrodes are distributed on two sides of the waveguide core, and the cladding layer covers at least a part of an outer wall of the waveguide core. The waveguide core includes an electro-optic material having an electro-optic effect. A refractive index of the insulating substrate is less than a refractive index of the waveguide core. A refractive index of the cladding layer is greater than the refractive index of the waveguide core.
