[Also in Division B1] A cylinder mould for separating wood pulp from its filtrate and forming a pulp sheet comprises a drum portion 12, imperforate ribs 22 mounted thereon and extending in an axial direction to form compartments between adjacent ribs 22, cover elements 40 extending arcuately over the greater portion of each compartment but leaving a gap 42, means - for example a wire 44 of rectangular cross-section spirally wound about the drum - on elements 40 to form a plurality of peripherally extending grooves, and a sheet filter 50. Cover elements 40 are upturned at one end 48 which has notches through which wire 44 passes, end 48 dividing each groove into separate sections. In use the mould is rotatably mounted in a vat and has a stationarily mounted valve element 16, Fig. 1 (not shown) extending around the mould either at the middle or at one end. The compartments between ribs 22 have holes in the end adjacent element 16 to be in communication therewith. Over the greater arcuate portion of the mould, element 16 is connected to a source of suction through the centre of the mould so that suction is applied to the inside of screen 50, and over the remaining arcuate portion of the mould valve element 16 is connected to the atmosphere, so that the pulp can be removed from the mould.
