Abstract: A method for driving a display device in an embodiment according to the present invention, the method including step of displaying an image in accordance with a first video signal in a first frame period, and displaying the image in accordance with the first video signal after the first frame in a second frame period. The image in the first frame period is displayed after an end of a non-display period, the non-display period is shorter than the first frame period, and the non-display period is inserted after writing of the video signal in the first frame period and before display of the image.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a display panel in which pixel units are arranged, and a controller configured to generate image signals by multiplying display data externally supplied to each line by a luminosity adjustment factor, to supply the generated image signals to the pixel units, to accumulate power consumption of each line, and to execute black insertion if the accumulated power consumption is determined to be greater than power consumption of one previous display frame by a predetermined value, wherein the luminosity adjustment factor is acquired by substituting the power consumption of one previous frame to a decreasing function, and a display pattern including a plurality of continuing black display lines is synchronized with supply of the image signals and is displayed moving the same direction of a screen scanning direction of the display panel during the black insertion.

Abstract: An organic EL display device includes a transistor for controlling whether to shut off supply of a current to an organic EL element or not, a pulse signal generation circuit which generates a pulse signal to be inputted to the transistor and a storage unit. The storage unit stores the information in such a way that one frame period includes, in order, a first light emission period which is a period preceding a pulse, a black display period which is a period equivalent to a width of the pulse, and a second light emission period which is longer than the first light emission period, and that an area expressed by a product of a length of and a luminance in a light emission period is greater for the second light emission period than for the first light emission period.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device displays an n−1th frame (n is an integer which is greater than or equal 2) and an nth frame in this order. The display device includes a display panel, calculator, adjuster, and controller. The calculator calculates power consumption of the n−1th frame. The adjuster determines whether or not the nth frame is brighter than the n−1th frame, and adjusts brightness of the nth frame based on a brightness adjustment magnification of the nth frame calculated based on the power consumption of the n−1th frame and a decreasing function, when the nth frame is not brighter than the n−1th frame. The controller stops light emission with an arbitrary timing when the nth frame is displayed, when the nth frame is brighter than the n−1th frame.
