Abstract: A pixel circuit and a display panel are provided in the present application. The pixel circuit includes a driving module, a pulse amplitude modulation module, a pulse width modulation module, an internal compensation module, and an electrical potential maintaining module. High grayscale display is controlled by the pulse amplitude modulation module in a pulse amplitude modulation manner, low grayscale display is controlled by the pulse width modulation module in a pulse width modulation manner, and the internal compensation module performs internal compensation on a first terminal of the driving module, to realize an internal compensation and hybrid driving of the pixel circuit.

Abstract: A display device displays an image in which each frame is formed by at least two subframes. The display device includes a drive unit configured to drive a plurality of pixels in a pixel array so as to drive pixels in at least two rows based on pixel data of each row of each supplied subframe data. The drive unit drives the plurality of pixels so as to cause pixels in a row not matching a row in the supplied current subframe data to emit light with a first condition, and cause pixels in a row matching the row in the current subframe data to emit light with a second condition. The second condition is a condition in which a light emission amount is larger than in the first condition when causing the pixels to emit light in accordance with identical pixel values.

Abstract: A near-eye display device comprises a pupil-expansion optic, a laser, a drive circuit coupled operatively to the first and second lasers, a spatial light modulator (SLM), and a computer. The SLM has a matrix of electronically controllable pixel elements and is configured to receive emission from the laser and to direct the emission in spatially modulated form to the pupil-expansion optic. Coupled operatively to the drive circuit and to the SLM, the computer is configured to parse a digital image, trigger the emission from the laser by causing the drive circuit to drive a periodic current through a gain structure of the laser, and control the matrix of pixel elements such that the spatially modulated form of the emission projects an optical image corresponding to the digital image, wherein the periodic current includes plural cycles of modulation driven through the gain structure while the optical image is projected.

Abstract: Sub-pixel compensation is described. In at least some implementations, a computing device includes a plurality of sub-pixels within a pixel which may generate an alternating display to approximate the display of a single sub-pixel. In other implementations, a voltage is applied to sub-pixels of a color such that a voltage across a first sub-pixel is proportional to a voltage across one or more additional sub-pixels. In other implementations, a change in a voltage drop across a sub-pixel is detected, and the change is compensated for by altering a voltage of a second sub-pixel within the pixel.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device in which pixels having a memory function are arranged includes: a display drive unit performing display driving by a driving method for obtaining halftone gray scales by setting plural frames as one cycle and temporarily changing gray scales of respective pixels within one cycle; and a pixel drive unit supplying a voltage having the same phase as, or the reverse phase to, a common voltage the polarity of which is inverted in a given cycle and applied to counter electrodes of liquid crystal capacitors to pixel electrodes of the liquid crystal capacitors. The pixel drive unit supplies an intermediate voltage between high- and low-voltage sides of the common voltage to the pixel electrodes of the liquid crystal capacitors at the time of transition from the supply of the voltage having the same phase to the supply of the voltage having reverse phase.

Abstract: An image display apparatus includes a light-source driving circuit that drives a light source to cyclically change brightness. A control unit controls a pixel to turn on and off over a plurality of subfields in a field so that transmittance or reflectance in the pixel over the plurality of subfields in the field corresponds to a gray level specified for the pixel. The control unit also arranges the plurality of subfields such that two or more gray-level defining subfields maintain a predetermined relationship with respect to the cyclical change in brightness of the light source caused by drive of a light-source driving circuit.
