Abstract: A dressing or a tissue interface for treating a tissue site with negative pressure may comprise a fluid control layer, a base manifold, and a closure manifold layer. The fluid control layer may comprise a plurality of fluid restrictions, and the base manifold may be disposed adjacent to the fluid restrictions. The closure manifold may have perforations adjacent to the base manifold layer. Additionally, the base manifold layer may have a first density, and the closure manifold layer may have a second density, wherein the second density is less than the first density. The closure manifold may be configured to deform laterally at a second negative pressure that is less than the first negative pressure.

Abstract: A reduced-pressure system for delivering reduced pressure for medical purposes to a desired site and to receive fluids in one instance includes a reservoir having an interior space operable to contain the fluids. A reduced-pressure delivery conduit is placed in fluid communication with the interior space for delivering the reduced pressure to the desired site. A source conduit and a pressure sensor conduit are placed in fluid communication with the interior space. A pressure sensor is placed in fluid communication with the pressure sensor conduit. A reduced-pressure source is placed in fluid communication with the source conduit. A reduced-pressure control unit is associated with the pressure sensor and the reduced-pressure source and is operable to receive pressure data from the pressure sensor and supply data from the reduced-pressure source and to determine when a reservoir-full/blockage condition exists. Other systems and methods are presented.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for instilling fluid to a tissue site in a negative-pressure therapy environment are described. Illustrative embodiments may include a pneumatically-actuated instillation pump that can draw a solution from a solution source during a negative-pressure interval, and instill the solution to a dressing during a venting interval. A pneumatic actuator may be mechanically coupled to a disposable distribution system that can provide a fluid path between the solution source and a distribution component. A bacterial filter may be disposed in the fluid path between the actuator and the distribution component to prevent contamination of the actuator during operation. The distribution system may be separated from the actuator and disposed of after operation, and the actuator may be re-used.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for providing negative pressure with instillation fluids to a tissue site are disclosed. Some embodiments are illustrative of an apparatus or system for delivering negative-pressure and/or therapeutic solution of fluids to a tissue site, which can be used in conjunction with sensing properties of fluids extracted from a tissue site and/or instilled at a tissue site. For example, a system may comprise a tissue interface adapted to be coupled to a source of instillation fluid and a dressing interface having a therapy cavity that includes a pH sensor, a humidity sensor, a temperature sensor, and a pressure sensor embodied on a single pad within the dressing interface to provide data indicative of acidity, humidity, temperature and pressure at the tissue site. Such apparatus may further comprise algorithms for processing such data for detecting leakage and blockage conditions as well as providing information relating to the progression of healing of wounds at the tissue site. An illustrative method may comprise disposing the tissue interface at the tissue site and the therapeutic cavity in fluid communication with the tissue interface. The method may further comprise instilling fluid to the therapy cavity and then sensing the pressure, humidity, temperature, and the pH of the fluids adjacent the tissue interface. The method may further comprise determining various flow characteristics of the system by using a processing element electrically coupled to the sensors for transmitting property signals from the sensors to a controller configured to assess the property signals in order to identify the flow characteristics.

Abstract: Some illustrative embodiments of a dressing for treating a tissue site may include a fluid hub, a plurality of elongate fluid members, and a separable joint. The plurality of elongate fluid members may be positioned in fluid communication with the fluid hub. Each of the plurality of elongate fluid members may include a proximal end, a distal end, and an elongate side between the proximal end and the distal end. The elongate side of the elongate fluid members may extend longitudinally outward from the fluid hub. The separable joint may be coupled between the elongate side of one of the plurality of elongate fluid members and the elongate side of another of the plurality of elongate fluid members. Other dressings, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: Dressings, systems, and methods are disclosed that, in some embodiments, relate to treating a tissue site. In one embodiment, a dressing may include a manifold, a retention pouch, a sealing member, and a conduit interface. The manifold may be adapted to distribute reduced pressure to the tissue site, and the retention pouch may be adapted to retain and manage fluid extracted from the tissue site. The sealing member may cover the retention pouch and the manifold to provide a sealed space with the tissue site. The conduit interface may be in fluid communication with the sealed space and an exterior surface of the sealing member. The dressing may be utilized with a therapy device operable to control reduced pressure in the dressing and fluid flow over the sealing member.

Abstract: In one example embodiment, a dressing connector is described that provides a first fluid path between a first connector and a second connector, and a second fluid path between a third connector and a fourth connector. A liquid barrier may be disposed in the first fluid path. The first fluid path and the second fluid path are generally exposed to an exterior surface of the dressing connector. In some embodiments, a tube may also be bonded to the third connector to provide a third fluid path between the dressing connector and another component. In more particular embodiments, the liquid barrier may be a filter, such as a hydrophobic bacterial filter, a sintered polymer filter, and/or a charcoal filter.
