    摘要: Upon fabricating an opposite substrate, a concave portion having a predetermined depth is formed on the surface of a transparent substrate. Then, a light-shielding film is formed in the concave portion, and further, the surface of the light-shielding film and the surface of the transparent substrate are polished so as to form the same plane. Accordingly, an orientation film formed over the transparent substrate can be flattened to realize uniformity of a rubbing treatment.

    摘要: The a golf club shaft includes a sheet member made of fiber reinforced plastic material, preferably in the form of a mesh member having a reticular or net-like structure, secured circumferentially around a cylindrical outer surface of the grip end of the shaft body. Preferably, this sheet member includes an extension that is visible from outside by extending from the club head end of the grip to achieve a distinct appearance and/or to enhance the mechanical strength of the related part which is known to be subjected to a substantial stress in use. The presence of the sheet member not only improves various mechanical characteristics, such as the bending strength and flattening strength and the vibration damping capabilities of the grip portion but also provides a distinct and attractive appearance to the golf club.

    摘要: A glass ceramic having properties of low thermal expansion, high transmittance in a visible light region and low specific gravity, and a glass ceramic substrate made of the glass ceramic are provided. The glass ceramic has a crystal phase containing a &bgr;-quartz solid solution precipitated by heat treatment of a matrix glass for a glass ceramic, and the matrix glass has a glass composition comprising 55 to 70 mol % of SiO2, 13 to 23 mol % of Al2O3, 11 to 21 mol % of an alkali metal oxide, provided that the alkali metal oxide contains 10 to 20 mol % of Li2O and contains 0.1 to 3 mol % of Na2O and K2O in total, 0.1 to 4 mol % of TiO2 and 0.1 to 2 mol % of ZrO2, the total content of said components being at least 95 mol %, and further comprising 0 to less than 0.2 mol % of BaO, 0 to less than 0.1 mol % of P2O5, 0 to less than 0.3 mol % of B2O3 and 0 to leas than 0.1 mol % of SnO2.

    摘要: In a calibration member for use in calibrating an optical scanner, a first shading layer which is resistant against a predetermined etchant is deposited on a first principal surface of a substrate and covered with a second shading layer soluable by the predetermined etchant. The second shading layer alone is selectively etched by the predetermined etchant to leave a predetermined pattern on the first shading layer. An antireflection layer may be interposed between the first shading layer and the predetermined pattern. Alternatively, the predetermined pattern may be covered with an antireflection pattern etched together with the second shading layer. Similar structure may be formed on a second principal surface of the substrate.
