Disclosed are an adhesive composition for glass bonding, a glass assembly and a display using the adhesive composition. The adhesive composition includes a urethane-acryl copolymer, a monomer mixture of an acrylic monomer having no hydroxyl group and a monomer having a hydroxyl group, an isocyanate cross-linking agent, and a photo-polymerization initiator. The adhesive composition has advantages of: favorable scattering prevention of broken glass pieces, excellent heat-resistant durability enabling prevention of damage to an image display apparatus caused by temperature change, no adverse effect upon transmittance of the image display apparatus, hence ensuring desired visibility.

Nanoporous polymers with gyroid nanochannels can be fabricated from the self-assembly of degradable block copolymer, polystyrene-b-poly(L-lactide) (PS-PLLA), followed by the hydrolysis of PLLA blocks. A well-defined nanohybrid material with SiO2 gyroid nanostructure in a PS matrix can be obtained using the nanoporous PS as a template for the sol-gel reaction. After subsequent UV degradation of the PS matrix, a highly porous inorganic gyroid network remains, yielding a single-component material with an exceptionally low refractive index (as low as 1.1).

A method of manufacture of a coated polymeric film which comprises performing in sequence the steps of: (i) forming a substrate layer comprising poly(ethylene naphthalate) having a thickness in a range from 50 μm to 250 μm; (ii) stretching the substrate layer in at least one direction; (iii) heat-setting the substrate layer under dimensional restraint at a tension in the range of about 19 to about 75 kg/m of film width, at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the poly(ethylene naphthalate) but below the melting temperature thereof; (iv) heat-stabilizing the substrate layer under a tension of less than 5 kg/m of film width, and at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the poly(ethylene naphthalate) but below the melting temperature thereof; and (v) disposing a coating layer on a surface of the substrate layer by a process comprising applying a planarizing coating composition thereto such that a surface of said coating layer exhibits an Ra value of less than 0.6 nm, and/or an Rq value of less than 0.8 nm; and wherein the coating layer has a dry thickness in a range from 1 μm to 20 μm and the number of surface peaks in the range 300 to 600 nm per 5 cm2 area (N(300-600)) of the film after coating is less than 50.

The panel may be used with any flat panel display including but not limited to LCD, plasma, and organic LED displays. Embodiments may contain anti-reflective glass containing pyrolytic coatings and may be bonded together using an index-matched optical adhesive. Exemplary embodiments can resist impact from objects at high speeds and protect the electronic display from damage. Embodiments also resist shattering to protect any bystanders.

A reflective mirror 3 of the rear projection television (RPTV) includes a float glass plate (glass substrate) 1 formed to have a plate thickness of 3 mm by a float process, and a reflection enhancing film 2 constituted of aluminum (Al) formed on one surface 1a of the glass substrate 1 by a sputtering method. In the measurement condition of a cut-off value of 0.8 to 8 mm, the maximum amplitude of a filtered waviness curve is 0.1 μm or less, the maximum value of a viewability index value γ (=A/D3) in a range of spatial frequencies 2 to 500/mm by spectral analysis of the filtered waviness curve is 0.02 (/m2) or less, and an integral value of the viewability index value γ is 2.0 (/m3) or less.
