Abstract:
An information input apparatus having both functions of touch panel and digitizer is disclosed including a stylus pen for applying a power source and for touching, a panel having upper and lower substrates, a first resistive layer formed on the upper substrate, a second resistive layer formed on the lower substrate, and a spacer for maintaining a predetermined distance and insulation between the first and second resistive layers, and mode selection means for selectively switching between ground and a power source for contact with the second resistive layer, to thereby select an operation mode for operating the panel as a touch panel or digitizer.
Abstract:
A liquid crystal display (LCD) using a plasma addressing method includes a sequentially arranged face plate, intermediary plate, and rear plate separated from each other by predetermined distances; a liquid crystal portion including a liquid crystal material between said face and intermediary plates for displaying an image in accordance with the arrangement of the liquid crystal material; and a plasma portion formed by sealing a discharge gas between the intermediary and rear plates for rearranging the liquid crystal material by adjusting the discharging state of the discharge gas. The LCD has AC voltage-supply parallel column electrodes on the inner surface of the face plate for supplying a constant frequency AC voltage, data signal-supply anodes on the inner surface of the rear plate for supplying data signals, and line scanning signal-supplying cathodes insulated from and at right angles to the data signal-supply anodes on the inner surface of the rear plate for supplying line scanning signals. A driving method of the display is also provided. Both the liquid crystal portion and the plasma addressing portion can be driven by just one driving IC which reduces manufacturing cost and enhances the display's response.
Abstract:
A liquid crystal display (LCD) using a plasma addressing mode can be applied to the picture display of the two field-technique of an interlaced system used in televisions and whose plasma channels are formed by parallel arranged second electrodes, dielectric lines overlappingly arranged on the second electrodes, and discharge gas injected between the second electrodes. A driving method of the plasma channel is such that discharge occurs according to the potential difference of voltages supplied to two adjacent second electrodes. In scan-driving, one picture consists of two fields, wherein odd and the following even second electrodes as a pair are sequentially enabled to discharge in the first field, and even and the following odd second electrodes as a pair are sequentially enabled to discharge in the second field, thereby decreasing the number of electrodes, facilitating the manufacture of large-sized screens, and simplifying the fabrication process.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to a color PDP comprising a plurality of striped color filters formed in parallel on the inner surface of a front plate, a plurality of dielectric layers formed on the color filters and having a plurality of light-passing holes formed at predetermined intervals on those portions corresponding to respective color filters, a white fluorescent layer formed on the dielectric layer, and a plurality of anodes formed on the white fluorescent layer corresponding to the color filters and each having light-passing openings formed on the portion corresponding to respective light-passing holes of the dielectric layer, thereby preventing optical crosstalk between adjacent cathodes in the direction of a scanning line and obtaining uniform luminance.
Abstract:
A plasma addressed liquid crystal display in which the structure of the plasma address portion is improved is disclosed. In the plasma address portion of the present liquid crystal display, a plurality of independent parallel discharge spaces are formed by the grooves formed on a middle plate, and each pair of second electrodes formed by a screen printing are formed to be opposed on the groove. The liquid crystal display has advantages of easy manufacturing of a low cost.
