Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a wireless power receiver and a method therefor, the wireless power receiver comprising: a secondary coil which is magnetically coupled to a primary coil provided in a wireless power transmitter so as to receive wireless power from the wireless power transmitter; a shielding member for supporting the secondary coil; a power pickup unit including a rectifier circuit which rectifies an alternating current signal of the wireless power received by the secondary coil into a direct current signal; and a communication/control unit for controlling transmission of the wireless power and communicating with the wireless power transmitter. On the basis of the secondary coil and shielding member according to the present embodiment, slimming of an applied product may be achieved and, simultaneously, the same target performance index (required for a medium power level (for example, 60 W) standard) may be realized.

Abstract: The present specification discloses a wireless power transmission device and method thereof. Here, the wireless power transmission device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a laser light source unit; a light output unit which emits laser light generated from the laser light source to a light receiving unit of the wireless power receiving device; and a control unit which controls shaping of the emitted light according to the angle of arrival with the light receiving unit so that an overfill loss is less than a predetermined threshold value. Here, the control unit detects the point at which the power conversion efficiency of the light receiving unit is highest, and sets and controls the power density value of the emitted light at the detected point.

The plurality of transmission coils are arranged inside the shielding coil disposed on the dielectric substrate, and the direction of a magnetic field formed at one side and the other side of the plurality of transmission coils adjacent to the shielding coil is formed to be opposite to the direction of a magnetic field formed around the shielding coil so that the shielding coil shields external exposure of electromagnetic waves by the plurality of transmission coils.

The present invention has a technical feature wherein the power transmission control unit determines whether to transmit power wirelessly to the receiving device on the basis of the type of the external material.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for performing foreign object detection in a wireless power transfer system. The present specification discloses a method comprising receiving a digital ping from the wireless power transmitter; transmitting an identification and configuration packets to the wireless power transmitter; transmitting a foreign object detection (FOD) state packet which indicates a reference Q factor of the wireless power receiver to the wireless power transmitter; and receiving wireless power through magnetic coupling from the wireless power transmitter based on the foreign object detection result of the wireless power transmitter using the reference Q factor. Irrespective of individual characteristics of a wireless power receiver, accuracy and reliability of detecting a foreign object may be improved.

Abstract: The present specification provides a wireless power reception apparatus comprising: a power pick-up unit configured to receive wireless power from a wireless power transmission apparatus by magnetic coupling with the wireless power transmission apparatus and convert an AC signal generated by the wireless power into a DC signal; a communication/control unit configured to receive the DC signal from the power pick-up unit and control the wireless power; and a load configured to receive the DC signal from the power pick-up unit. When foreign material is detected before power transmission, wireless power transmission is sustained on the basis of a safe basic power profile of 5 W or less, without interrupting power transmission, and thus, a charging delay can be prevented and the accuracy and reliability of detection of foreign material can be increased despite individual characteristics of the wireless power reception apparatus.

In addition, the present disclosure relates to an interference avoidance method of a wireless power transmitter, and the method may include connecting a head unit of an automobile in a wireless manner through a communication device, receiving a first signal for avoiding interference from the head unit to stop wireless charging or change a first frequency band to a second frequency band, and receiving a second signal from the head unit to resume the wireless charging or change to the first frequency band.
