    Abstract: A wireless power transmission apparatus including a controller configured to initiate a digital ping to solicit a response from a wireless power reception apparatus, receive the response from the wireless power reception apparatus, and perform a negotiation for a first power level with the wireless power reception apparatus, and a power converter configured to transmit a wireless power to the wireless power reception apparatus based on the first power level, wherein the controller is configured to transmit, to the wireless power reception apparatus in response to a received power packet, a bit pattern response requesting a communication by the wireless power transmission apparatus to change the first power level, and transmit a packet related to a second power level to the wireless power reception apparatus, and wherein the bit pattern response is defined as a pattern different from a bit pattern for an 8-bit ACK response, a bit pattern for an 8-bit NAK response and a bit pattern for an 8-bit ND response.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a device and a method for performing wireless power transfer on the basis of heterogeneous communication. Disclosed in the present specification is a wireless power receiving device comprising: a power pickup unit configured to receive wireless power from a wireless power transfer device by magnetically coupling with the wireless power transfer device at an operating frequency, and convert an alternating current signal generated by the wireless power into a direct current signal; a communication/control unit configured to receive the direct current signal from the power pickup unit, and perform an in-band communication using the operating frequency and/or an out-band communication using a frequency other than the operating frequency; and a load configured to receive the direct current signal from the power pickup unit. Configuration information, control information and management information related to wireless power transfer, and procedures related to the exchange thereof are defined as an out-band communication protocol, and thus various applications of wireless power can be supported.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for performing power calibration in a wireless power transmission system. The present specification provides a wireless power transmission apparatus comprising: a power conversion unit configured to transmit, in a power transfer phase, wireless power generated on the basis of magnetic coupling to a wireless power receiving device; and a communication/control unit configured to perform an initial calibration for a power parameter prior to the power transfer phase, receive a first received power packet from the wireless power receiving device indicating the power received by the wireless power receiving device during the power transfer phase, and detect foreign matter by using the received power and a first power loss determined on the basis of the initial calibration. It is possible to adaptively respond to a newly changed wireless charging environment to calibrate transmission power and reception power, and it is possible to detect foreign matter more precisely by detecting a power loss on the basis of the calibrated transmission and reception power.

On the basis of the secondary coil and shielding member according to the present embodiment, slimming of an applied product may be achieved and, simultaneously, the same target performance index (required for a medium power level (for example, 60 W) standard) may be realized.
