Abstract: Techniques for detecting and tracking a status of an object relevant to an incident are provided. A virtual partner associated with a first responder detects at least one object that is relevant to an incident to which the responder is responding. The virtual partner requests that a smart building controller track a status of the at least one object. It is determined that the at least one object is currently needed. An indication is received from the smart building controller when the at least one object is currently needed, indicating the status of the at least one object.

Abstract: Techniques for improving admissibility of electronic evidence are provided. An indication that a piece of evidence has been presented to and rejected by a court may be received. The indication includes a reason the piece of evidence was rejected. Metadata related to the piece of evidence is updated in the evidence management system to indicate the reason why the piece of evidence was rejected. Analytics are used to locate additional incidents similar to the incident in the evidence management system. Additional rejected evidence associated with the located incidents that are associated with the piece of evidence that has been rejected by the court based on metadata associated with the additional rejected evidence are identified. Artificial intelligence is used to analyze the rejected evidence and the additional rejected evidence to determine commonalities between the reasons for rejection. A recommended corrective action to prevent future rejection of later gathered evidence is output.

Abstract: A method and system for profiling a reference image and an object-of-interest therewithin is disclosed. The method includes storing semantic metadata that provides semantic information about environments for respective areas covered by respective Fields Of View (FOVs) of video cameras. The method also includes comparing the semantic metadata to additional metadata corresponding to at least one of an object accessory and a non-permanent object facet to identify a subset of the video cameras, less than an entire video camera universe, that meet a similarity score condition.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for analyzing a dirty camera lens to determine if the dirty camera lens causes a failure to detect various events is provided herein. During operation, a filter is created that, when applied to previously-recorded video, mimics a dirty camera lens currently existing on a camera. The filter can then be applied to video taken previously with the camera as a result of an event being detected. The video analytics to detect the event are run again on the filtered video to see if the event is again detected. If the event was detected in both the filtered and unfiltered video, it is assumed that the particular event can still be detected even with the dirty lens. If the results differ, an alert can be sent to an operator indicating that the camera may no longer be capable of detecting the particular event.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for operating a camera is provided herein. During operation a camera having pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) capabilities will have its field of view (FOV) moved such that any detected blemish on the camera lies over an area with low activity (i.e., a low history of detected motion). More particularly, when it has been determined that a blemish or blemish resides on a camera's lens, a heat map of activity within the current FOV is determined. More active areas of the FOV are marked as “hot”, while less active areas of activity are marked as “cold”. The camera is then aligned such that the dirty portion of the lens does not align with any “hot” part of the heat map.

Abstract: A process of modifying workflows associated with processing an incident scene in response to detecting contamination of the incident scene. An electronic computing device obtains a first image of an incident scene at a first point in time and analyzes the first image to detect a state of evidentiary items present at the incident scene. The device obtains a second image of the incident scene at a second point in time and detects a change in the state of the evidentiary items based on a comparison of the first and second images. When it is determined that one or more persons entered or exited the incident scene during a time period between the first point in time and the second point in time, the device detects that the incident scene has been contaminated and generates a workflow modification identifying one or more actions for execution by a workflow server.

Abstract: A process of notifying users about publicly available data. In operation, an authorization server receives a request from a user to access a data item. The authorization server then determines a restriction status assigned to the data item. When the restriction status indicates that the data item is not publicly available for access, the authorization server identifies access rights associated with the user to the data item. If access rights indicate that the user does not have access to the data item, the authorization server denies user access to the data item, and responsively monitors for a reclassification of the restriction status assigned to the data item. The authorization server transmits a notification to the user indicating that the data item is publicly available for access by the user in response to detecting a reclassification of the restriction status indicating that the data item is publicly available.
