Abstract:
A horizontally oriented mortar mixing drum 11 fabricated of polyethylene material having an elemental cylindrical segment opening through which mortar materials to be mixed may be deposited into or poured from. A perimeter frame having base elemental frame member 15, diametric wall frame members 16 and polyethylene grate 20 is provided for enhancing resistance to torsional stress on drum 11. Wear resistant liner 12 and side panels 13 and 14 cover the interior surface of drum 11. Paddle shaft 18 is rotatably and axially supported within drum 11 and has paddle stubs 28 attached to and extending radially therefrom. Polyethylene mixing paddles 19 are sleeved onto paddle stubs 28 to complete improved mortar mixing drum assembly 10.
Abstract:
A motar mixer driven by a hydraulic pump and motor which are powered by an gasoline engine. The mixer frame is configured as a trailer to facilitate transport of the mortar mixer. The trailer frame is further adapted so that the frame members form a fluid reservoir for the hydraulic fluid for the system. A tubular steel frame assembly, is manufactured so that the inner chambers of the frame members are in fluid communication with one another. A reservoir dam is placed inside the horizontal trailer frame member to provide a crush zone for eliminating risk of damage to the reservoir in the event that the weld that secures the front trailer frame member to the horizontal trailer frame member fails or fractures. Cooling of the hydraulic fluid and engine/pump compartment is accomplished by creating a flow of ambient air through a duct which passes along the side of and is affixed to the horizontal trailer frame member, the flow of air being generated by a squirrel cage fan which is attached directly to and rotates with the output shaft of the hydraulic pump.
Abstract:
A foot operated mortar drum latch assembly having V-stop tab 15 extending normally from drum end wall 25. A latch bar 14 is provided, and is pivotally attached to upright frame strut 24 adjacent to drum end wall 25 for frictional engagement with V-stop tab 15. Foot peg 12 attached to pivot arm 11 is positioned at the bottom of upright frame strut 24. Extension arm 13 connects pivot arm 11 to latch bar 14 such that when foot peg 12 is depressed latch bar 14 is pivoted out of engagement with V-stop tab 15.
Abstract:
An improved cement mixer having polyethylene cement mixing drum (20) held and supported by a cradle arm assembly (21) formed of cradle base support braces (23) and upright cradle arms (22) which interfit into crandle arm recesses (27) which are preformed with polyethylene drum (20). A bull gear (25) is provided and circumvolves polyethylene drum (20). Bull gear (25) is aligned with and attached to cradle arms (22) and drum (20) so they dual function both as a drive mechanism for rotating drum (20) and as a structural member for cradle assembly (21).
Abstract:
An automatic variable speed centrifugal clutch with belt tightening assembly is characterized by even transmission of rotational drive to a pair of belts and includes a rotating spindle and clutch plate having an adjustable centrifugally operable belt tightening mechanism. The belt tightening mechanism includes a clutch drum and a spacer which define recesses for receiving the belts to be driven. Slide rails slidably inserted through slide rail holes in the clutch drum and spacer, and connected at their ends to the clutch plate and spindle flange rotationally interlock the clutch assembly yet allow for longitudinal displacement of the clutch drum and spacer means relative to the spindle flange. As the spindle rotates, the clutch drum presses the spacer against a flange of the spindle to evenly drive the belts while compensating for differences in belt size.
Abstract:
Power driven cement finishing apparatus having a plurality of finishing trowel blades rotatable about a common vertical axis, a stationary guard ring being supported from a main frame structure of the apparatus so as to be positioned above and outwardly of the path of rotation of the outer end tips of the finishing blades, and vibration absorbing means being interposed between the guard ring support and the main frame structure, whereby vibrations induced in the guard ring during operation of the apparatus will be dampened and not transmitted to the finishing blades.
Abstract:
A combination work station for open wire element bindery operations is provided with a base plate having a planar work surface with a die punch for perforating pages resting upon a first work station on the work surface, and the bindery press for pressing closed open wire binding elements at a second work station on the common work surface. The bindery press is manually operated and is provided with a moving platen sliding upon inserted guide posts extending normally up from the work surface. Adjustment means incorporating adjustment screws interfitting through threaded traveler blocks attached to the platen are provided. Compressive coil springs circumvolving the adjustment screws provide compressive force for returning the press from its closed to open position.
Abstract:
A trim control 100 providing a weight distribution compensator to a riding power trowel 1. The trim control 100 has hollow cylindrical housing 101 rigidly attached to riding power trowel frame 3. Cylindrical housing 101 has traveler slot 102 disposed in its side parallel to the cylindrical housing's longitudinal axis. A cylindrical traveler block 110 is slidably inserted into cylindrical housing 101. Traveler block 110 has a threaded coaxial bore 111 disposed in a first end for receiving a threaded second end 105 of control bolt 103. A stop dog 112 is radially attached to cylindrical traveler block 110 through and extending radially outward from traveler slot 102. Thrust bearing 107 and shoulder bearing 108 are coaxially inserted and attached to a first end of hollow cylindrical housing 101. A radially disposed threaded through hole is provided in housing 101 and shoulder bearing 108 for receiving allen head set screw 109. Allen head set screw 109 is in threaded engagement with the through hole and penetrates the central opening in shoulder bearing 108. A scalloped control knob 104 is coaxially attached to a first end of control bolt 103. Control bolt 103 further has a coaxial set screw retaining groove 106 circumscribing its outer surface for slidably receiving allen head set screw 109.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for converting a unidirectional displacement to an angular displacement of selectable direction. The apparatus 10 has a rack gear assembly, which has two opposing rack gears 16 and 17 held in a parallel spaced relationship and constituting a coordinate plane. Disposed within the two opposing rack gears is rotational shaft 15 having attached to it engagement pin 21 for engaging a segmental pinion gear slot 22 or 23. A pair of opposing segmental pinion gears 13 and 14 are rotatably attached to shaft 15. Each segmental pinion gear 13 and 14 is engaged with a corresponding rack gear 16 and 17. The invention also provides a means for engaging the first said engagement means with either one of the two segmental pinion gears.
Abstract:
A concrete finishing machine having a rotatable trowel blade assembly and a mechanism for controllably adjusting the pitch of the trowel blades relative to a wet concrete surface on which the blades rest. Manual pivoting of a control lever controllably adjusts the trowel blade pitch and, in doing so, automatically increases or decreases the amount of blade surface contacting the concrete surface, and correspondingly lowers or raises the machine relative to the surface. The contacting blade surface supports the machine's entire weight. A special counterbalancing apparatus that includes, for example, a compressed coil spring, biases the control lever so as to compensate for the machine's weight and permits an operator to adjust the blade pitch with substantially less force than otherwise would be required.
