    摘要: Provided is a smear-removing method that can remove smear of a manufactured thin-film magnetic head. The method is performed to a thin-film magnetic head including an MR effect element for reading data having two electrode layers sandwiching an MR effect multilayer as a magneto-sensitive portion therebetween. The method comprises the step of applying a stress voltage less than a breaking voltage of the MR effect element between the two electrode layers to burn off smear. In the method, it is preferable that the stress voltage is applied while an electric resistance or an output voltage of the MR effect element is measured, and the stress voltage is increased until the value of the electric resistance or the output voltage reaches an upper limit specified value specified from a value of an electric resistance or an output voltage in a normal case where smear is not present.

    摘要: Provided is a smear-removing method that can remove smear of a manufactured thin-film magnetic head.     摘要: The invention is directed to a magnetic head driving circuit and a magnetic disk device which achieve a low flying-height with thermal protrusion and thus a reliable write operation on the magnetic disk. The write circuit 3 receives the write data signal Sw inputted therein, and generates and outputs the write voltages Wx, Wy based upon the inputted signal. The write voltages Wx, Wy are composed of a preamble portion T1, a sink mark T2 and a user data portion T3 in each sector for magnetic recording. In the write voltage, the frequency f2 of the signal in the preamble portion T1 is higher than half the frequency f1 of the signal in the user data portion T3.

    摘要: Provided is a thin film magnetic head capable of reducing the amount of protrusion of a write shield layer, thereby preventing a collision with a recording medium, and thereby ensuring a recording operation with stability. A heat sink layer is disposed on the leading side of a thin film coil in order to dissipate heat produced by the thin film coil. When the thin film coil produces heat during the recording of information, priority is given to the guidance of the heat to the leading side of the thin film coil, namely, the side opposite to the position of the write shield layer, rather than the guidance of the heat to the trailing side of the thin film coil, namely, the position of the write shield layer, so as to dissipate the heat. Thus, the thin film magnetic head reduces the likelihood of the heat accumulating in the write shield layer, thus reduces the likelihood of the write shield layer expanding thermally, and thus reduces the amount of protrusion of the write shield layer.
