Abstract:
LEDs are considered to be point light sources. Visible light provided by one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs) is passed through a light diffuser. The LEDs and diffuser are mounted inside a transparent or light-transmissive non-evacuated envelope and bulb. The light emitted from the bulb appears to originate from a filament used in conventional light bulbs rather than from a point light source.
Abstract:
A light-weight and energy-efficient lighting panel is constructed from a light-transmissive and light diffusive extrusion formed to have elongated hollows, which are hollow structures or volumes between two surfaces, at least one of which is transmissive and diffusive. Light projected into the hollow flows through the hollow and part of the light is emitted through the light transmissive and diffusive surfaces. Even though the light sources are located at the edges of a panel, the surface of the panel appears to be uniformly light by light sources distribute directly behind the panels rather than along the edges.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to consensus nucleotide and protein sequences for HIV-1 Clade A antigens, and to nucleotide and protein sequences for Clade A antigens from circulating HIV-1 field isolates wherein the antigen sequences are closely related to the these consensus sequences. In a preferred embodiment, the present invention relates to HIV-1 Clade A transgenes that are derived from such sequences, and that encode either HIV-1 Clade A Gag, Pol (RT and Int), and Nef (referred to as “GRIN”), HIV-1 Clade A Gag, RT, and Nef (referred to as (“GRN”), or HIV-1 Clade A Env. The invention also relates to vectors containing such transgenes, including in preferred embodiment, adenovirus vectors containing such transgenes. The invention also relates to immunogenic compositions comprising the HIV-1 Clade A antigens, nucleotide sequences, vectors, or transgenes of the invention, and to methods of generating an immune response against HIV in a subject by administering an effective amount of such immunogenic compositions.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a fastener mounting clip for use in securing a fastener to sheet material having a bore hole formed therein. The fastener mounting clip is preferably formed of a single sheet of thin spring steel. The mounting clip includes a rectilinear planar surface having opposing retainer arms extending beneath its outer edge at obtuse angles. The retaining arms are resiliently flexible and compress and expand during insertion wherein a top end of the retaining arm abuts against the sheet material when the fastener mounting clip is fully seated within the bore hole. The planar surface includes support tabs for supporting the planar surface in the plane of the sheet material and also includes a recessed aperture for receiving and retaining a fastener therein.
Abstract:
A component is provided that includes at least one passageway. In another aspect, a component, such as a lamp or a vehicular washer jet, is made of layers of material, a light curable material and/or multiple built-up materials. Another aspect uses a three-dimensional printing machine to emit material from an ink jet printing head to build up a component.
Abstract:
A hollow illuminated ornament housing a plurality of light strings controlled by electronics providing lighting effects communicated to the light bulbs which extend through the exterior surface of the shell. The ornament, in any configured shape, displays steady or electronically sequenced light patterns creating brilliant visual effects. The use of an electronic controller for the light effects allows for other pre-programmed features to be included in the invention such as timers, motion sensors and audio sensors to allow the ornament to react to the installation environment. The illuminated ornament can be used for ornamental installations, such as holiday decoration, or as general and mood lighting installations.
Abstract:
Various configurations of twin layshaft gear transmission are disclosed, typically having a large degree of common parts between single and dual clutch variants. In one embodiment reverse ratio is provided via an independent compound idler and is driven from a driving gear also associated with a forward speed ratio.
Abstract:
A one piece fastener capable of being secured to a substrate member and having an uncoupled position and a coupled position. The fastener includes an outer member defining a cavity and an inner member integrally formed with said outer member. The inner member is disposed in the cavity of the outer member wherein the outer member is moved along a longitudinal axis from an uncoupled position to a coupled position relative to said inner member. The inner member includes living hinges permitting the outer and inner members to move relative to one another. The fastener also includes at least one locking mechanism for locking the fastener in a coupled position. The outer member includes a head and recess for receiving a portion of the inner member in the coupled position and permitting the fastener to be released from the coupled position and reused.

Abstract:
An attachment system is provided. In another aspect, an elongated member is inserted through support assembly to secure the support assembly to a building roof. Another aspect employs a bracket having a guide pin that engages a pin receptacle on a stand as the bracket is lowered onto the stand. A method of attaching a solar panel to a building is additionally provided.
