Abstract: A medical ultrasound device includes: an ultrasound generator and an elongated probe. A cross-sectional surface of the probe at a distal end to which ultrasound oscillation is propagated is perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the probe, and the cross-sectional surface has a shape identical to a shape of a cross-sectional surface of an anchor to form, in a bone, a bottomed hole for placing the anchor and having a shape to prevent rotation of the anchor in the bottomed hole. An area of the cross-sectional surface of the probe at the distal end is larger than an area of a cross-sectional surface of the probe at a proximal end. The distal end includes a treatment portion that expands outward relative to the proximal end and that is formed in a first direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and in a second direction different from the first direction.

Abstract: An ultrasonic probe includes a treatment portion that has a through-hole or concave portions. The through-hole extends from a first outer surface to a second outer surface facing in an opposite direction to that of the first outer surface. The concave portions include a first concave portion on the first outer surface, and a second concave portion on the second outer surface. The treatment portion includes a blade formed along an edge of an opening of the through-hole or the first concave portion. An outer relay surface extends from the blade to the second outer surface and faces away from a center axis of the through-hole or the concave portions. A distance from the center axis to the blade is greater than or equal to a distance from the center axis to the outer relay surface at a position between the blade and the second outer surface.

Abstract: An arthroscopical surgical method using an ultrasonic treatment device for a joint includes: transmitting ultrasonic vibration to a treatment portion of the ultrasonic treatment device, removing an injured region of an articular cartilage so that a subchondral bone is exposed, and forming a cartilage edge which is nearly angled at 90° with the exposed surface of the subchondral bone to form a pool-shaped depression; forming a hole which pierces up to a cancellous bone of the subchondral bone through the depression, and scratching blood vessels in the cancellous bone; causing bleeding from the blood vessels so that blood is retained in the depression via the hole.

Abstract: A method of performing a procedure on a meniscus, via an ultrasonic surgical tool. The ultrasonic tool includes a probe capable of transmitting ultrasonic vibration from a proximal end toward a front end. The probe includes a bent portion that is inclined with respect to a longitudinal axis of the probe, and a procedure portion that is disposed at the front end of the probe and has a plurality of cutting surfaces. The method includes: inserting the probe in a body; moving the probe through a space in between the femur and the tibia to position the procedure portion adjacent to the horizontal rupture in the meniscus; positioning a cutting surface of the procedure portion on a posterior portion of the meniscus; and resecting the horizontal rupture along an inclination of the meniscus to form an inclined resection plane.

Abstract: A guiding device can include a guide including a through hole for insertion of an ultrasound probe that forms a tunnel to a bone. The bone-tunnel introduction portion can have a sectional polygon shape smaller than a polygon on an inner circumferential face of the through hole.
