    Abstract: An optical scanning actuator (1) includes an optical fiber (2) having a tip (2a) supported to allow vibration and includes a piezoelectric element (4) that generates a driving force by expanding and contracting in the direction of the optical axis of the optical fiber (2), the driving force driving the tip (2a) of the optical fiber (2) in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis. The optical scanning actuator (1) has rotational asymmetry or two-fold rotational symmetry about the optical axis of the optical fiber (2), and the resonance direction of the tip (2a) of the optical fiber (2) and the direction of the driving force of the piezoelectric element (4) are substantially parallel.

    Abstract: An endoscopic illumination system includes at least two light sources, an illumination system, a multiplexer, at least two detectors, and a light source controller. The multiplexer includes at least two input ports and an emission port. The multiplexer can propagate light that is input from the input ports to the emission port separately or after multiplexing the light. The multiplexer can output a portion of light propagating between the input ports and the emission port. The detectors detect the light propagating between the input ports and the emission port in each wavelength band. The light source controller adjusts the amount of light emitted from the light sources. The amount of light emitted from each light source is thereby appropriately adjusted even when multiple light sources are turned on simultaneously.

    Abstract: An optical fiber is vibrated at an emitting end part by a scanning part, and light is irradiated from an emitting end face of the optical fiber onto an object to scan the object. The scanning part includes a pair of first direction coils facing each other in a first direction across the emitting end part, and a permanent magnet installed as penetrating the emitting end part. The permanent magnet is magnetized in the axial direction of the emitting end part. The scanning part drives, by supplying power to the first direction coils, the emitting end part to vibrate in the first direction in the second or higher-order resonance mode, forming nodes of the vibration within the permanent magnet. When in a state of non-vibration in the first direction, a relative distance between the permanent magnet and the first direction coils is smaller than that in other directions.

    Abstract: Provided is an optical scanning endoscope apparatus, including: an illumination optical fiber which guides light from a light source and has a leading end part oscillatably supported; a piezoelectric substrate designed to vibrate the leading end part of the illumination optical fiber in the Y-direction; piezoelectric substrates designed to vibrate the leading end part of the illumination optical fiber in the X-direction; a piezoelectric substrate which drives the leading end part of the illumination optical fiber such as to at least partially cancel out vibration components in the Y-direction generated by the piezoelectric substrates; and an optical system which irradiates light emitted from the illumination optical fiber, toward an observation object; a photodetector which detects light obtained by the observation object irradiated with the light and converts the light thus detected into an electric signal; and an image processor which generates an image based on the electric signal output by the photodetector.
