Abstract: A fiberscope for stereoscopic imaging has at least one wavefront manipulator which, for creating a sample beam, is configured to pre-shape a wavefront of the light from a light source such that the pre-shaped light is focusable substantially on an object point in an object region and raster-deflectable to a multiplicity of object points. The fiberscope also includes an illumination fiber for supplying the pre-shaped sample beam to the object region, and a detector fiber for supplying scattered light reflected and/or scattered at the respective object point to a detector which captures the scattered light and is connected to a computer unit. The computer unit is configured to compose the stereoscopic image from the captured scattered light. A method is for acquiring stereoscopic image data from a fiberscope.

Abstract: A guide sheath includes ports at a handle portion through which flexible endoscopic tools may be advanced until they emerge from corresponding ports at a distal tip of the guide sheath. The guide sheath includes a position sensor at its distal tip that is compatible with an image guided surgery (IGS) system, such that a virtual view of the distal tip's position relative to a surgical site may be presented by the IGS system. The virtual view may assist a surgeon in precisely positioning the distal tip at the surgical site, and then one or more flexible endoscopic tools may be advanced the length of the guide sheath for use at the surgical site. The guide sheath may also include an articulating portion at the distal tip that may be deflected in one or more directions in order to provide additional control over placement within the surgical site.

Abstract: An imaging needle apparatus, associated system, and method of use are described. The apparatus includes various interchangeable modules, including a trocar assembly, a blunt cannula assembly, and an arthroscope assembly, such as a nano-arthroscope. For example, using the imaging needle apparatus, a doctor can treat a patient by inserting the trocar assembly into the patient's body, inserting the blunt cannula assembly into the body via the trocar assembly, removing the trocar assembly, and inserting the arthroscope assembly into the blunt cannula assembly. Further, the imaging needle apparatus, in some embodiments, includes a light engine that provides a light source for a camera cannula of the apparatus, such as a camera cannula that is part of the arthroscope assembly.

Abstract: A surgical visualization system is disclosed. The surgical visualization system is configured to identify one or more structure(s) and/or determine one or more distances with respect to obscuring tissue and/or the identified structure(s). The surgical visualization system can facilitate avoidance of the identified structure(s) by a surgical device. The surgical visualization system can comprise a first emitter configured to emit a plurality of tissue-penetrating light waves and a second emitter configured to emit structured light onto the surface of tissue. The surgical visualization system can also include an image sensor configured to detect reflected visible light, tissue-penetrating light, and/or structured light. The surgical visualization system can convey information to one or more clinicians regarding the position of one or more hidden identified structures and/or provide one or more proximity indicators. In various instances, imaging data from different sources and/or obtained at different times can be integrated.

Abstract: A non-occluded dual lumen endotracheal tube is disclosed that includes a first lumen for delivering oxygen or other gases to a patient, and a second lumen for suctioning secretions or other fluids from the patient's airway. The endotracheal tube also includes a fiber-optic imaging system and an AI hyperspectral imaging system for providing real-time, high-resolution images of the patient's airway. The AI hyperspectral imaging system is configured to analyze spectral characteristics of image pixels captured by the camera and to correct and enhance the images provided by the fiber-optic imaging system by reducing noise, correcting distortion and improving contrast and brightness, resulting in improved visualization of the patient's airway and better detection of abnormalities or other conditions.

Abstract: A surgical laryngoscope blade made of a metallic base material with a shaft having an elongate base body is presented. The base body extends between a proximal and distal end and forms a central main channel and an auxiliary channel. The main channel comprises a proximal end profile and a distal end profile. The proximal end profile has an approximately oval design. The distal end profile is geometrically adapted to a vocal cord apparatus. The major axis of the proximal end profile and the major axis of the distal end profile are oriented orthogonal to one another. The auxiliary channel is spaced apart from the main channel in a proximal end region adjacent to the proximal end of the base body. The auxiliary channel opens into the main channel in a distal end region. A method serves to produce such a surgical laryngoscope blade.
