Abstract:
THIS INVENTION IS DIRECTED TO MICROSCOPIC CAPSULES COMPRISING A CONTINUOUS SYNTHITIC POLYMERIC LAYER SURROUNDING A NUCLEUS COMPOSED OF PHOTOSENSTIVE SILVER HALIDE GRAINS WHEREIN THE POLYMERIC LAYER IS OF SUFFICIENT THICKNESS TO SUTSTANTIALLY OVERCOME THE ATTRACTIVE FORCES OF SAID SILVER HALIDE GRAINS FOR ADJACENT SILVER HALIDE GRAINS. THUS, THE PRESENT INVENTION COMTEPLATES INDIVIDUAL GRAINS OF PHOTOSENSITIVE SILVER HALIDE WHICH ARE SPATIALLY SEPARATED FROM ADJACENT GRAINS BY MEANS OF A POLYMERIC LAYER ENCASING THE GRAINS. THE PRESENT INVENTION IS ALSO DIRECT TO METHODS FOR PROVIDING SUCH ENCAPSULATED PRODUCTS AND TO PHOTOGRAPHIC PRODUCTS EMPLOYING SAID CAPSULES.
Abstract:
Dye developer diffusion transfer processes are disclosed utilizing 6-alkylamino purines, preferably in combination with a silver halide solvent. In particularly useful embodiments, processing is effected in the presence also of a uracil and bis( Beta -aminoethyl)-sulfide.
Abstract:
Diffusion transfer processes are disclosed wherein the dye image is retained with the developed silver halide emulsion(s) as part of an integral negative-positive reflection print. Use of a silver halide solvent which is free of sulfur atoms gives advantageous results.

THE REAGENT MAY BE, E.G., AN ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT ABSORBER OR AN ANTIFOGGANT. IN A PARTICULARLY USEFUL EMBODIMENT, THE REAGENT IS A REAGENT WHICH WILL SUPPRESS TRIBOLUMINESCENCE.
Abstract:
This invention relates to light filters employing redox compounds that are substantially light-transmitting in their oxidized state and capable of forming a stable colored free radical upon the addition of electrons. The colored free radical formed in response to the flow of electric current renders the device light-absorbing. To restore the original lighttransmitting properties, the colored free radical may be readily reoxidized, for example, by reversing the direction of current flow.
Abstract:
A photographic film pack or magazine containing all of the materials and components required to produce a plurality of diffusion transfer process color reflection prints. The pack includes a plurality of diffusion transfer process color film units each comprising a photosenstive laminate including as essential layers, in order, a dimensionally stable transparent support layer, a layer adapted to receive a diffusion transfer process dye image-forming material diffusible thereto, an opaque layer, a photosensitive silver halide layer having an associated diffusion transfer process dye image-forming material; a transparent dimensionally stable support sheet superposed substantially coextensive with the surface of the laminate opposite the transparent support; and a rupturable container, filled with a liquid processing composition including an opacifying agent, secured to the exterior of the laminate and transparent sheet adjacent a leading edge of either or both the external transparent layer and sheet in position to discharge its liquid contents between the transparent sheet and the laminate by and in response to the application of compressive pressure to the container. The film pack also comprises a container including a forward wall formed with a light transmitting opening and holding a plurality of film units arranged in stacked relation with the transparent sheets facing the forward wall in position for exposure to light admitted by the opening, and an opening at one end through which exposed film units can be withdrawn, one at a time, to effect the processing thereof. The container also includes pressure-applying means associated with the withdrawal opening for discharging and spreading the liquid contents of the container of each exposed film unit as the latter is withdrawn from the film pack container. A dark slide with a leader projecting beyond the pressure-applying means is positioned between the exposure opening and the foremost film unit to prevent exposure thereof and is connected by a leader to the foremost film unit which, in turn, is connected to the next succeeding film unit, and so forth, to provide for withdrawal and processing of all film units.
Abstract:
Diffusion transfer color processes are described for providing integral negative-positive reflection prints. Discoloration of the ''''whites'''' or highlights of such integral negative-positive reflection prints is minimized by performing the process in the presence of a metal chelating or complexing agent effective to form a less colored and more stable metal chelate than any other reagent present.
Abstract:
Photographic images, particularly multicolor images, viewed through a transparent support have an anti-reflection coating on the outer surface of said support. The images may be formed by multicolor diffusion transfer processes using dye developers or other image dye-providing materials. In the preferred embodiments, the photographic image is an integral negativepositive reflection print. Where photoexposure is effected through a transparent support, e.g., the transparent support through which the final image is viewed, provision of an antireflection coating and effecting photoexposure therethrough will permit more effective recording of light passing through the camera lens. The transparent support preferably has an index of refraction of at least 1.6.
Abstract:
THIS INVENTION RELATES TO PHOTOGRAPHIC PROCESS EMPLOYING PHOTOGRAPHICALLY INERT COMPOUNDS WHICH ARE STABLE IN THE PHOTOGRAPHIC PROCESSING COMPOSITION BUT CAPABLE OF UNDERGOING CLEAVAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IMAGEWISE DISTRIBUTION OF SILVER IONS AND/OR SOLUBLE SILVER COMPLEX CONTAINING SILVER IONS MADE AVAILABLE AS A FUNCTION OF DEVELOPMENT TO LIBERATE A REAGENT IN AN IMAGEWISE DISTRIBUTION CORRESPONDING TO THAT OF SAID SILVER ION AND/OR SAID COMPLEX. IN ONE EMBODIMENT, THE PHOTOGRAPHICALLY INERT COMPOUND IS SUBSTANTIALLY NON-DIFFUSIBLE IN THE PHOTOGRAPHIC PROCESSING COMPOSITION AND THE REAGENT RELEASED THEREFROM AS A FUNCTION OF DEVELOPMENT IS DIFFUSIBLE IN THE PROCESSING COMPOSITION. IN ANOTHER EMBODIMENT, THE DIFFUSIBLE REAGENT RELEASED IS A DIFFUSIBLE DYE. COMPOUNDS APRTICULARLY USEFUL FOR LIBERATING A REAGENT ARE 1,3-SULPHUR-NITROGEN COMPOUNDS, E.G., THIAZOLIDINES, AND THEIR VINYL AND PHENYLENE ANALOGS.
