    Abstract: A smoothing unit smooths a detected voltage of each power storage block based on previous data during a certain period. A calculator calculates a difference between a smoothing voltage of one power storage block in the n power storage blocks and a representative value of the smoothing voltages of the other power storage blocks or all the power storage blocks. A determination unit determines a power storage block whose difference against the representative value enlarges more than or equal to a set value during a predetermined period as a power storage block containing an abnormal power storage cell.

    Abstract: Controller determines an output limit value that defines an upper limit of a current or power recommended for suppressing cell deterioration based on a voltage, a current, and a temperature of each cell, and notifies host controller in electric vehicle of the determined output limit value. When electric vehicle climbs a hill, controller calculates a current value or power value to be discharged from power storage unit, the current value or power value being required for electric vehicle to climb the hill at a speed not less than a set minimum speed, while suppressing an amount of deterioration of cells within an allowable range, and when the calculated current value or power value is larger than the output limit value, replaces the output limit value with the calculated current value or power value.

    Abstract: A voltage of a battery cell is measured, and a current flowing through the battery cell is measured. An open circuit voltage (OCV) of the battery cell is estimated based on the measured voltage, the measured current, and an equivalent circuit model based on electrochemistry of the battery cell, and a state of charge (SOC) of the battery cell is estimated based on the estimated OCV, SOC-OCV characteristics on a charge side of the battery cell, and SOC-OCV characteristics on a discharge side of the battery cell. At least one of a positive electrode and negative electrode of the battery cell is a mixed electrode containing a plurality of materials. Estimated is a current flowing through a material in which capacity-OCV characteristics are different between the charge side and the discharge side, the material being included in the plurality of materials contained in the mixed electrode, and a ratio between the SOC-OCV characteristics on the charge side and the SOC-OCV characteristics on the discharge side is determined based on the current.
