Abstract: A polymer includes (a) one or more first monomeric units, each independently comprising at least one bicycloheptyl-polyether, bicycloheptenyl-polyether or branched (C5-C50)alkyl-polyether group per monomeric unit, wherein the bicycloheptyl-polyether or bicycloheptenyl-polyether group may optionally be substituted on one or more ring carbon atoms by one or two (C1-C6)alkyl groups per carbon atom, and (b) one or more second monomeric units, each independently comprising at least one pendant linear or branched (C5-C50)alkyl-polyether group per monomeric unit, provided that the first and second monomeric units cannot both comprise a branched (C5-C50)alkyl-polyether group and is useful as a component in liquid compositions, such as aqueous latex coating compositions, personal care compositions, home care compositions, and institutional or industrial care compositions.

Abstract: Methods of acidizing a subterranean formation penetrated by a wellbore that include the steps of (a) injecting into the wellbore at a pressure below subterranean formation fracturing pressure a treatment fluid having a first viscosity and including an aqueous acid and a gelling agent selected from the group consisting of Formulas I-XI and combinations thereof; (b) forming at least one void in the subterranean formation with the treatment fluid; and (c) allowing the treatment fluid to attain a second viscosity that is greater than the first viscosity.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a new process for synthesizing an amido alkyl betaine starting from a linear alcohol having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms, to an amido alkyl betaine prepared by the process with increased viscosity in water, and also to use thereof as a viscoelastic surfactant in oil and gas applications and home personal care applications. The present invention also relates to a process for synthesizing an amido amine starting from a linear alcohol having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms, and to an amido amine prepared by the process.
