    Abstract: An electronic device and method are disclosed herein. The electronic device includes: a display having a display area that is variable, at least one processor operably connected to the display. The processor implements the method, including: controlling the display to display a plurality of elements on the display, receiving a user input requesting resizing of the display area, in response to the user input, identifying a core element among the displayed plurality of elements, resizing the display area based on the received user input and the identified core element, wherein a first window in which the core element is displayed is resized in proportion to resizing of the display area.

    Abstract: An operating method of an electronic device is provided. The method includes measuring an external temperature of the electronic device by using at least one sensor. The method may calculate, from an entire region of a flexible display, a fixed region that is visually exposed to an outside regardless of a screen size of the electronic device, and a variable region that is visually exposed at least in part to the outside in a screen expansion or screen size change state of the electronic device. The method may compare the external temperature with a preset first threshold temperature, thereby determining heating of the variable region in response to the external temperature being less than the first threshold temperature. The method may heat the variable region by controlling at least one of a luminance or a driving frequency of the variable region.

    Abstract: An electronic device may include a housing, a motor, a display including a region that, by using at least the motor, is expandable to the outside of the housing or reducible to the inside of the housing a memory, and a processor, wherein the memory may store instructions that, when executed, may cause the processor to: execute an application; expand, in response to a specified event, the region of the display to the outside of the housing at a specified reference speed by using the motor; recognize, during the expansion of the region, a time required to display an execution screen of the application on the display; adjust the speed of the motor on the basis of the required time; and display, on the display, the execution screen of the application corresponding to the expanded state of the display during the expansion of the region on the basis of the adjusted speed of the motor.

    Abstract: A portable electronic device may include: a first housing; a second housing disposed to be slidable with respect to the first housing; a flexible display in which a display area of the display is contracted or extended on the basis of slide-in or slide-out driving of the second housing; a motor for generating driving force to slide the second housing; a driving circuit for driving the motor; and a processor(s). The processor(s) may: configure the display area of the flexible display as an activation area for displaying visual information; recognize that a consistency problem occurs in an application execution screen when switching from the slide-out state to the slide-in state on the basis of occurrence of a slide-in trigger for contraction of the activation area while displaying the application execution screen on the activation area in the slide-out state; and provide a user interface to allow extension of the activation area on the basis of the occurrence of the consistency problem.
