    Abstract: A method, communication device, and user equipment (UE) for detecting a synchronization signal in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes receiving a synchronization signal including a code sequence of length 2N, wherein the code sequence includes an even code sequence of length N and an odd code sequence of length N; obtaining the code sequence by de-scrambling the received synchronization signal; generating and storing a correlation value of the even code sequence by full-correlating the even code sequence with a number of candidate even code sequences; generating a correlation value of the odd code sequence by full-correlating the odd code sequence with a number of candidate odd code sequences, and obtaining a correlation value of the code sequence by adding the stored correlation value of the even code sequence corresponding to the candidate odd code sequences to the generated correlation value of the odd code sequence; and detecting the synchronization signal based on the obtained correlation value of the code sequence.

The method includes, but is not limited to, receiving a universal synchronization signal (USS) including a universal primary synchronization signal (UPSS) and a universal secondary synchronization signal (USSS), wherein the USS is coded using a mother code which is extended to m resource blocks (RBs) and n orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols and a code cover of m RBs and n symbols is applied to the mother code, determining a cell identity based on the USS, determining a frame timing based on the USS, and connecting a user equipment to a network using the cell identity and the frame timing.

    Abstract: Apparatuses and methods of manufacturing same, systems, and methods for blind detection of a numerology of a received signal are described. In one aspect, a method is provided for a user equipment (UE) to blindly detect the numerology of a received signal. The method includes correlating cyclic prefix (CP) signals in the received signal in the time domain based on a plurality of hypotheses of subcarrier spacing (SCS); measuring power variation of the received signal in the frequency domain based on the plurality of hypotheses of SCS; and combining weighted results of a correlation of the CP signals in the time domain and the measured power variation in the frequency domain to determine a numerology of the received signal for a corresponding hypothesis of SCS of the plurality of hypotheses.
