Abstract:
A disc cartridge for receiving a disc includes a case which accommodates the disc and at least one centering spring which prevents deviation of the disc in the case. Thus, a gap in which the disc moves in the disc cartridge is restricted so as to reduce a length in which a disc clamp of the disc contacts a disc clamp guide inside a disc drive system. Accordingly, the height of the disc clamp is reduced so as to reduce the thickness of the disc cartridge and miniaturize the disc cartridge.
Abstract:
An optical pickup having a blade including a first blade in which an objective lens is mounted and which is made of a reinforced plastics material, and a second blade in which driving coils are mounted and which is made of a magnesium alloy material. Since the first blade has a low thermal conductivity coefficient, the heat generated in the coils is prevented from being transferred to the objective lens, whereas the second blade having a high thermal conductivity coefficient radiates the heat generated by the coils to the outside. Thus, the heat distortion of the objective lens can be suppressed, and damages to the coils or rigidity reduction of the blade can be avoided.
Abstract:
An optical pickup apparatus including a swing arm pivotably installed in a tracking direction with respect to a disc, and an optical pickup unit supported by the swing arm and driven in a focusing direction, wherein the optical pickup unit includes a laser diode, an objective lens to focus light emitted from the laser diode on a recording surface of the disc, and a heat sink plate to dissipate heat generated from the laser diode, wherein the heat sink plate is provided close to the disc so as to be directly exposed to wind generated during rotation of the disc.
Abstract:
An objective lens driving apparatus used with an optical pickup includes a base, a holder provided on the base, a blade on which an objective lens is mounted, an elastic support body elastically supporting the blade and which is capable of moving with respect to the holder, a pair of magnetic members installed on the base to face each other, and a coil assembly including a focus coil, a tracking coil, and a tilt coil, the coil assembly being installed at the blade so as to be disposed between the magnetic members. Thus, coils needed to change the position of an objective lens are incorporated into a single coil assembly and are arranged between a pair of magnets, and an installation space is small so that the apparatus can be made compact.
Abstract:
A disc cartridge having a case to accommodate a disc, a shutter to open or close an opening formed in the case to enable a recording and/or reproducing job with respect to the disc, a discharge path provided at one side of the case to allow the flow of air formed therein during rotation of the disc, and an opening/closing mechanism to open/close the discharge path. Thus, since the discharge path through which the flow of air produced inside the cartridge during rotation of a disc is smoothly discharged to the outside is provided, contamination of the disc by foreign material such as dust can be considerably reduced.
Abstract:
An optical head includes a substrate, a laser diode, a photodetector, an objective lens, a prism, and an optical element. The laser diode is installed on the substrate and emits light. The photodetector is installed on the substrate and receives the light. The objective lens is installed on a first side of the substrate and focuses the light emitted from the laser diode onto a recording surface of a disc. The prism is installed on a second side of the substrate, transmits the light emitted from the laser diode toward the objective lens, and transmits the light reflected from the recording surface toward the photodetector. The optical element adjusts an optical path formed between the substrate and the prism.
Abstract:
A disc cartridge includes a case accommodating a disc and guided by both sidewalls of a holder when inserted in a holder of a disc drive apparatus. The case includes flat surface portions formed to have surface contact with both sidewalls of the holder, and curved surface portions connecting the flat surface portions. Thus, since corner portions of the case of the disc cartridge have round shapes, such as the curved surface portions, a compact-sized disc cartridge can be manufactured. Also, since the disc cartridge has surface contact with an inner wall of the holder when the disc cartridge enters the holder of the disc drive apparatus, a loading work can be stably and accurately performed.
Abstract:
An actuator used with an optical pickup to drive a blade, on which an objective lens is mounted, in focusing and tracking directions, includes a pair of magnets installed on a base, and a plate coil installed in the blade to be placed between the magnets. Each magnet has a shape in which N and S poles of the magnet are alternately magnetized in four regions asymmetrically split vertically and horizontally. In this structure, the actuator used with an optical pickup can be less affected by sensitivity variations when the blade is displaced, and the size of the electromagnetic driving unit can be reduced by reducing the number of magnetized gaps formed in the magnet.
