Abstract: A method and an apparatus of cooperating with a plurality of base stations in a wireless communication system. A cloud cell is configured with a plurality of base stations that cooperate with each other for a mobile station and synchronizes user contexts for serving the mobile station among the plurality of base stations included in the cloud cell, and the plurality of base stations cooperate with each other to provide a communication service to the mobile station. The present disclosure reduces generation of a handover when the mobile station moves between base stations, and increases the data yield of the mobile station by transmitting and receiving data in cooperation with base stations in a cloud cell at a shaded area or a cell border.

Abstract: A Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) method and an apparatus in a communication system are provided. The method includes receiving, by a Subscriber Station (SS), first data from at least one first member Base Station (BS) among member BSs of a cooperative cell, when the cooperative cell is configured with the member BSs to provide a communication service to the SS, generating a response signal indicating a reception result of the first data, and transmitting the response signal to at least one predefined second member BS from among the member BSs. The member BSs include a master BS for controlling communication of the member BSs and at least one slave BS for communicating with the SS under the control of the master BS.

The measurement information on each transmission beam is determined according to at least one of an elevation angle of the corresponding transmission beam, an azimuth of the corresponding transmission beam, a handover urgency, information on a handover failure, and information on a radio link failure (RLF). A mobile station (MS) may perform a measurement report or a handover process according to a result of the measurement.

Embodiments herein provide a method for triggering a transmission of a UE-to-Network relay indication comprising receiving, by UE, one of UE-to-Network relay criteria broadcasted by a base station, measuring, at the UE, a link quality parameter between the UE and the base station, detecting, by the UE, that the link quality parameter meets the UE-to-Network relay criteria, and transmitting, by the UE, the UE-to-Network relay indication (i.e. discovery message indicating itself as the UE-to-Network relay) on a Device to Device (D2D) discovery channel.

A method for managing resources for Device to Device (D2D) communication includes: establishing a radio connection with an evolved NodeB (eNB); receiving allocated resources for D2D communication from the eNB through the radio connection; performing the D2D communication by using the allocated resources in an idle state after the radio connection is released; and responsive to receiving a message from the eNB indicating a release of the allocated resources, releasing the allocated resources.
