Guide is provided for guiding the movable block in response to energization and deenergization of the coil so that the pole pieces are movable within the respective working gaps. This low profile electromagnetic relay includes a base and a support post protruding at one end of the base. An electromagnet assembly is mounted in a generally central position on the base, and has a pair of magnetic pole surfaces on opposite sides of its one end. An armature assembly includes an insulating armature member, shaped generally as a hollow rectangular member with an open space being defined within it and formed with a hole by which it is rotatably fitted over the support post with the electromagnet assembly fitting inside the open space defined within it. A drive portion is connected to the insulating armature member. A pair of mutually opposed armature pieces are mounted on the insulating armature member, and, when the insulating armature member is rotatably fitted over the support post, lie on opposite sides of the one end of the electromagnet assembly and each oppose one of the magnetic pole surfaces of the electromagnet assembly. A permanent magnet member is mounted so as to bridge between the pair of mutually opposed armature pieces. And a contact mechanism is fitted to the base and is driven by the drive portion of the insulating armature member. Thereby the height of the relay is minimized, and the stability of its action is assured.

The second relay device is so arranged as to effect the make of the actuating switch and second switch in said order and to effect the break of the same in the opposite order. A delay circuit is provided for controlling the first and second relay devices such that when supplying a current to the load, the first and second relay devices are turned on in said order so that the first switch, the actuating switch and the second switch are turned on in said order. And, when cutting off the current to the load, the first switch, the actuating switch and the second switch are turned off in the opposite order.

A polarized electromagnetic relay apparatus for assembling a coil spool with a terminal carrying base plate is disclosed. The coil spool assembly has a front collar with a projecting piece. The projecting piece is adapted to engage with a latch hole in the terminal carrying base plate. The terminal carrying base plate has jaw-like, offset portions which engage with supporting offset portions formed in the rear collar of the coil spool assembly. The flexible projecting pieces may be of deformable material in order to easily engage with the latch hole of the base plate. The flexible projecting pieces can be tapered, also to facilitate engagement with the base plate latch hole. A terminal holder is formed on the rear collar of the coil spool assembly and is adapted to receive terminals from the coil. The terminal holder comprises the supporting offset portions which engage with the jaw-like offset portions of the base plate. The terminal holder is of a greater thickness than the base plate.
