Abstract:
An acoustically mounted valve assembly controlling the flow with respect to a tank. The purpose is to eliminate noise. An elastomeric or rubber ring is provided around an inlet pipe and is secured to the tank wall by a spud. The elastomeric ring has an untionsioned annular part which carries a mounting ring which supports the inlet pipe and the valve assembly. The mounting eliminates or reduces noise to a minimum and prevent the tank from acting as a drum.
Abstract:
A pilot operated ball cock valve for controling the height of fluid in a tank. The rotary pilot valve has an inlet port and an outlet port which are interconnected and communicate with a fluid channel which bypasses an evacuation chamber and a diaphragm valve permitting fluid to flow directly to the inlet port of the rotary pilot valve. The outlet port of the rotary valve is positioned by a predetermined fluid height in the tank into alignment with a fluid channel which transmits fluid pressure into a pressure chamber above the diaphragm. Such positioning allows fluid pressure to act upon the diaphragm which closes a discharge orifice thereby preventing flow of fluid into the tank. A decrease in fluid height in the tank induces the rotary pilot valve to rotate such that the outlet port will move out of alignment with the fluid channel leading into the pressure chamber. A lip seal containing the outlet port of the valve is then forced by fluid pressure against the well surface with which the rotary pilot valve articulates preventing the leakage of fluid through its outlet port. A fluid channel communicating with the evacuation chamber and the periphery of the rotary pilot valve allows the pressure in the pressure chamber to be relieved and the diaphragm opens permitting fluid to be evacuated into the tank until the fluid level reaches the predetermined height where the outlet port of the rotary pilot valve is realigned for transmission of fluid pressure into the chamber.
Abstract:
A fluid conducting connector for use in water connections particularly water heater connectors. The connector assembly is designed for mating connection to a galvanized nipple for reduction of galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metal connections. An insulator sleeve is seated within the connector to maintain separation between the galvanized nipple and the copper tube of the assembly. The connector assembly includes an internally threaded female connector mounted to the copper tube for connection to the nipple. The insulator sleeve includes a tubular body and a radial flange. The body of the sleeve extends partially into the copper tube while the flange seats within the female connector acting as a washer for the assembly.
Abstract:
A system for mounting vehicle wheels is disclosed in which at least one lock nut secures the wheel upon lug bolts to prevent theft. The dimensions of the lock nut are selected such that a lock nut tool may also tighten and remove polygonal nuts that are used to secure the same wheel to the lug bolts. With this invention, a vehicle owner or a vehicle assembly line is not required to have two distinct type of tools, and the assembly line is not constrained to having the lock nut tightened at a particular lock nut tightening station.
Abstract:
A miniature anti-siphon valve is disclosed which is of inexpensive manufacture, requiring only three parts which may be molded rather than machined. The valve will close to prevent reverse fluid flow when either pressure in the supply line drops below ambient air pressure or fluid flow into the valve outlet occurs. The valve operates regardless of its physical orientation, and in one embodiment may include a nozzle for use with a bidet.
Abstract:
Correspondingly keyed combination of a round-headed bolt fastener and a generally cylindrical socket, preferably for use in securing an automobile wheel cover against theft. The fastener has a plurality of axial slots, or lock impressions, about the periphery of the circular head which may be spaced in accordance with a preselected code. The wrench socket is provided with a corresponding number of key elements projecting inwardly from the cylindrical wall of the socket, the position of the key elements being in accordance with a preselected code. When the key code of the wrench matches the lock code of the fastener, the wrench socket may be slipped over the fastener head with the key elements engaging the lock impressions so that the wrench may tighten or untighten the fastener. The fastener has an axial recess extending from the outer face of the head with an inner beveled surface about the recess opening. The head also has an outer beveled surface extending about its outer periphery which provides a bearing surface for supporting the key elements during rotation of the socket until the matched position of the key elements and the lock impressions is reached. The socket has an axial pin extending flush with the end plane of the socket for alignment with the fastener head recess to guide the wrench during initial engagement with the head. The socket also has an inner angled portion extending between the base of the socket and the axial wall portion which matches the angle of the outer beveled surface of the fastener head. When the socket is in full engagement on the fastener head, the engagement of the central pin in the axial recess and the contact of the angled surface of the socket with the beveled surface of the head serve to stabilize the alignment of the wrench socket on the fastener head during transmission of torque from the wrench to the fastener.
