Abstract:
A tamper-resistant aerator including an aerator cartridge, an insert defining at least one removal slot, and a locking ring defining at least one removal slot at least partially disposed within a housing is disclosed. The locking ring rotates with respect to the housing to allow alignment of the removal slot of the locking ring with the removal slot of the insert. Alignment of the slots form a continuous passageway through the locking ring and into the insert. Alternatively, a plurality of removal slots may be provided. A mating engagement between the locking ring and the housing secures the locking ring within the housing while still allowing it to rotate with respect to the housing. An aerator system is also provided comprising an aerator as described above and a tool adapted to be received in the continuous passageway formed by the alignment of the slots and engage the insert.
Abstract:
A fastening assembly having torquing members that engage notches on a conical securing member. The torquing members being operable by a wrench and able to exert torque on the securing member at the notches to tighten or loosen the securing member.

Abstract:
A tamper-resistant fastener such as a nut for a bicycle has a smoothly rounded generally dome-shaped body and one or more recesses formed into the body. Each recess has a first and open ended portion which is bounded on radially inward side but not on the radially outward side, and a second and closed ended portion which is bounded on both the radially inward side and the radially outward side. Additionally, each recess can have an additional notch formed therein, the recess and notch together forming a major and minor recess. A wall which bounds the radially inward side of the recess decreases in radial distance from the central axis of the nut as the recess proceeds in the circumferential direction. A mating wrench has teeth that match the recesses and, if present, the notches.
Abstract:
The described embodiments relate generally to magnetic fasteners. In particular a fastening apparatus for engaging and disengaging a fastener disposed within a device housing is described. By designing a fastener with a magnetically coded head that fastener can be both engaged and disengaged to a fastener attachment point within a device housing by a magnetic driver having a magnetically coded driving feature that corresponds to the magnetically coded fastener head. In this way a fastener can be attached at various orientations within a device housing after the device housing has been closed.
Abstract:
A tamper resistant fastener system includes a threaded fastener having a head provided with uniquely formed and arranged engagement teeth for engaging with complimentarily formed teeth on a socket style torque transmitting drive tool. Engagement of the respective sets of teeth on application of torque from the drive tool in one direction advances the fastener, but application of torque from the drive tool is not effective in an opposed direction to remove the fastener.
Abstract:
A universal pot lid handling device is described. The device can include an elongated handle portion and a clamping portion slidably coupled to the handle portion. The handle portion can include a fixed jaw at a distal end thereof and the clamping portion can include a moveable jaw. The fixed jaw and the moveable jaw can have opposing, longitudinally extending gripping portions. The fixed jaw and the moveable jaw can include spacing portions and the gripping portions of the fixed jaw and the moveable jaw can extend from the respective spacing portions. The clamping portion can include a longitudinally extending guide and the handle portion can include a receiving portion adapted to receive the guide.
Abstract:
A tool for removing conventional one way fasteners that includes, generally, a member, a collar, and, a shaft that can be removably received by the collar, wherein in the shaft is configured to engage regions of the fastener head. The collar is adjustable to fit fastener heads of different sizes. The member can be configured to correspond to a threaded portion of the outer surface of the collar. The collar may also have a bottom portion that includes multiple splines.
Abstract:
A tool for tightening and loosening a security nut and the security nut associated with the aforementioned tool that allow easy tightening of the security nut, makes it difficult to remove the security nut when using ordinary tools, and makes it easy to remove the security nut if the dedicated tool is used. The security-nut tightening tool used for screwing and tightening the conical, trapezoidal security nut onto a bolt comprises a hollow section that covers and seats the tapered outer surface of the security nut, a rotation grip section that protrudes above the hollow section, a head female-thread section that is linked to a hollow space along the axis of the rotation grip section and screws onto the bolt, an inner tapered surface that is fixed to the inner wall surface of the tool and has the same slope angle as the tapered outer surface and an elastic friction part.
Abstract:
A fastening system according to the present invention includes a fastening device and a specialized tool. The fastening device is manipulable by the specialized tool and includes a threaded distal portion and a proximal receptacle to receive the tool. The tool is designed to interface the fastening device via the receptacle and rotate the threaded portion to engage or be removed from objects.
