    摘要: A fluid disinfection or sterilization system includes spray nozzles (26) for spraying an anti-microbial fluid on the exterior of an endoscope (14) supported in a microbial decontamination chamber (10a, 10b). The endoscope includes interior lumens which are microbially decontaminated by flowing anti-microbial fluid from outlets (28) through the lumens. A port (36) is connected with a leak detector. In order to ensure that the proper leak detector and anti-microbial fluid ports of the disinfection or sterilization system are interconnected with the proper lumen ports of the endoscope, a tethered connection assembly (50) is provided. The tethered interconnection assembly includes fittings (60, 62, 64) which are uniquely configured for interconnection with an appropriate one of a high pressure port, a low pressure port, and the leak detector port. Fittings at the other end of the tube assemblies (56) are configured for interconnection with appropriate corresponding ports of the endoscope. The tube assemblies (56) are interconnected by a tether (52) to which plurality of plugs (58) for plugging appropriate ports of the endoscope are also connected. A tag (54) identifies the model(s) of endoscope that the tethered connection assembly is to be used with and provides a diagram showing the proper interconnection pattern.

    摘要: A surgical light system (10) includes a lighthead (44) coupled to a suspension arm (41′) adapted for mounting to a surface (14) of a surgical room. A bulb (130) is disposed in the lighthead. A processor (120) in the lighthead is operatively coupled with the bulb for controlling an intensity of light of the bulb and is adapted to generate a lighthead status signal representative of a first status of the lighthead. A control apparatus (32, 34) is in operative communication with the processor (120) in the lighthead. The control apparatus receives the lighthead status signal and selects a set of control algorithms from among a group of algorithms based on the lighthead status signal for controlling the lighthead. The lighthead status signal includes information regarding a size of the lighthead, an intensity of light from the bulb, a condition of the bulb, a level of current applied to the bulb, a level of current applied to the bulb, a level of voltage applied to the bulb, an internal temperature of the lighthead, and the presence of one or more of a video camera, a surgical task light, and a controllable ambient light. A human-readable display device (160) is provided for displaying information relating to the lighthead status signal. Several levels of redundancy are provided in the control system to minimize the potential loss of control due to failures. In that regard, the lightheads are operable when the control apparatus (32, 34) fails.

    摘要: A medical suspension system (10) includes a ceiling plate (30) configured for mounting to a support structure (16). The ceiling plate supports a device (12), such as a lighthead or video monitor, which is mounted to the ceiling plate via an articulated arm (50) and a spindle (40), which is centrally mounted to the ceiling plate. A second device (14) is mounted to the ceiling plate, not through the spindle (40), in the conventional manner, but via an adapter plate (62), which is mounted directly to the ceiling plate. This increases the number of devices which are readily carried by the support structure without extending the spindle length which conventionally occurs when additional hubs are added to the main spindle.

A light source (38) is disposed within the housing. A handle (36) extends below the bezel and is rotatable relative thereto. A lighting control input means (60), associated with the bezel allows adjustment of the intensity of light emitted by the light source. A sterile cover (54) can be placed over both the handle and the bevel, allowing the input means to be manipulated by pressure on the cover with the thumb of the operator's hand, while simultaneously grasping the handle in the palm and fingers.

    摘要: An improved ratchet mechanism for a surgical boot is not susceptible to spontaneous rotation when the center of gravity of the weight of the patient's leg, the boot, and the support arm for the boot passes the axis of rotation of the ratchet mechanism. The ratchet mechanism includes a ratchet wheel which includes both ratcheting serrations which allow rotation of the support arm in only one direction and locking serrations which do not allow the support arm to rotate in either direction. A ratchet release allows such constraints on rotation to be removed by the surgeon or surgeon's assistant.

    摘要: An adjustable limb support system is provided for an operating room table to adjustably orient and position a stirrup or boot. The support system provides an adjustable support in combination with a vertically adjustable support. The vertically adjustable support includes a support arm, a ratchet wheel, a lock pin, and a ratchet release. The support arm is connected to a housing which both rotate about the ratchet wheel in a rotational plane extending upwardly and outwardly from the operating room table for automatic abduction. The lock pin engages the ratchet wheel and allows the support arm to be rotated upwardly but not downwardly. The ratchet release disengages the lock pin and allows the support to be rotated downwardly. The support arm can thus ratchet upwardly to fixed vertical positions and be lowered only by disengaging the lock pin. The adjustable support includes a retaining block, a compression block, and a compression head. The retaining block defines a passage for receiving a connecting rod secured to the stirrup or boot. The compression block defines a passage for receiving the support arm of the vertical adjustable support. The compression head when tightened prevents translation and rotation of the compression block on the support arm, and rotation of the compression block and the retaining block relative to each other. When the compression head is untightened the compression block can be translated or rotated on the support arm, and the blocks can be rotated relative to each other, in order to orient and position the stirrup or boot. The stirrup or boot freely rotates or swings about the axis of the connecting rod at all times.
