The shoulder includes opposing, longitudinally-extending slots which receive jaw elements, which are pivotally mounted on a reciprocating knock out plate, and therefore guide the jaw elements during the ejection procedure. The top plate, knock out plate and core plate are cut away so that rows of cores may be arranged in a densely packed configuration. In a preferred embodiment, the lateral sides of the top, knock out and core plates have a cut away or sinusoidal shape so that abutting rows fit in an overlapping relationship.

The outer surface of the mouth includes an annular recess which receives a plurality of radially inwardly projecting ribs on the rim portion, thereby effecting engagement between the closure and container. The closure includes a tab which is pivoted upwardly to remove the closure from the container, and the rim portion includes a plurality of sets of radially extending slots which fracture when the tab is pivoted upward, thereby preventing reattachment of the closure. Also in the preferred embodiment, the container includes an annular base shaped to receive the closure.

A parison ejector is used in combination with an injection molding apparatus of the type for molding parisons having an injector portion including a plurality of mold cavities communicating with a source of molten plastic material, an ejector portion for engaging the injector portion which includes a movable platen, a plurality of cores shaped and positioned to matingly engage the mold cavities, and an ejector frame which is carried by the movable platen and supports the cores. The parison ejector includes a hydraulic ram which actuates an ejector carriage which carries a pair of jaws pivotally mounted on the carriage and having mating ends which meet to form bearing surfaces which receive cams mounted in the ejector frame. The ends of the jaws form a portion of the mold and the parison is partly formed within it. Reciprocal movement of the ejector carriage with respect to the ejector frame causes the bearing race to move relative to the stationary cam thereby forcing the jaws apart so that the molded parison is removed from the end of the core. The cores preferably are hollow and include a helical pathway for a coolant to flow therethrough.

A one-piece plastic closure mechanism is provided which incorporates two flexible living hinge sections so that the leaves of the closure mechanism can pivot through the angles required for locking and unlocking a container cover from a container base. The closure mechanism may be attached to the base by screws, staples, or the like or may be integrally molded with the container to eliminate any post-molding assembly steps. One leaf of the closure mechanism contains a slot which engages a protrusion such as a tab on the container cover to lock the cover and base when the mechanism is closed. The container is designed so that individual containers are nestable for shipment, storage, and display. The interior of the container cover is provided with a clip for holding a writing implement and with a series of vertically upstanding ridges so that documents can be viewed in an upright position when the container is open.
