Abstract:
A container is produced from a single-layered, helically bent sheet metal strip. In the strip's upper or lower border region a first helically running border portion of the strip is bent out via a helically running outwardly bent edge with a curved region toward the outside of the container as a protruding flange. A second helically running border portion is in the lower/upper border region. The border regions each border one another adjacently height-wise and are connected to one another in a fluid-tight manner via a continuous, helically running welded joint. The second border portion runs rectilinearly in the plane of the strip and the welded joint has a first and a second weld seam. The first and second weld seams are applied from the outside and the inside of the container, respectively, and the two weld seams are fused to each other in the weld route thereof.
Abstract:
A container (10) is produced from a spiral-shaped, bent sheet strip (20) having a first edge section (22) extending in a spiral shape, being bent, and forming a bending edge (24) extending in a spiral shape toward the inside or the outside of the container (10). The sheet strip (20) has a second edge section (32) opposite the first edge section (22) in the longitudinal direction of the sheet strip (20) and extends in a spiral shape. The second edge section (32) overlaps a third section (28) opposite the first edge section (22) in relation to the bending edge (24) and is adjacent to the bending edge (24). The second edge section (32) and the third section (28) are welded to each other in the region of the overlap (30). The welding seam (40) extends at least partially into the region between the second edge section (32) and the third section (28) of the sheet strip (20).
Abstract:
A system for storage of green fodder and the like includes a cylindrical storage tank removably carried on a trailer which can be towed by a tractor. The frame of the trailer carries a tiltable platform having a rotatable plate on which the tank rests. The frame also carries a vertically movable apparatus for supporting either compaction rollers insertable into the tank top for compressing fodder as it is conveyed into the tank, or an elevator mechanism for lifting the tank away from its bottom cover to expose compacted fodder for removal. The tank is rotated during loading/compaction and removal. Compression of the fodder greatly increases the amount of fodder storable in each tank. After filling the platform is tilted, the tank is removed and can be rolled to a storage location with its axis horizontal.
Abstract:
A container is produced from a single-layered, helically bent sheet-metal trip (20). A first, helically running peripheral portion (22) of the sheet-metal strip (20) is bent out in the direction of the outside of the container (10) to form a helically running bent out edge (24). A second, helically extending peripheral portion (26) of the sheet-metal strip (20) overlaps a third portion (28) of the sheet-metal strip (20) on the inside of the container (10). The third portion is adjacent to the bent-out edge (24) and extends in the direction of the second peripheral portion (26) from the bent out edge (24). The second peripheral portion (26) is connected in a fluid-tight manner to the third portion (28) of the sheet-metal strip (20) on the inside of the container (10).
Abstract:
A digester with an agitator and a method of operating an agitator in a digester can be used, for instance, in agricultural biogas plants and communal clarification plants. The digester with an agitator and the method feature improved mixing of the waste products in the digester and enhanced digester efficiency. The digester includes a preferably round bottom surface, a filler rod and an agitator with a drive axle, preferably arranged on the periphery of the digester. The agitator is mounted in a stirring shaft or stirring pipe arranged underneath the filler standard. The method for operating the agitator in a digester involves stirring the content while material is fed into the digester through the filler standard.
Abstract:
A suspension cable is encased in a metal pipe formed from a metal strip wound in a series of adjacent helical windings on the cable. The longitudinal edges of adjacent windings are connected by a continuous tight fold.
Abstract:
A method is described for manufacturing a built-up sheet panel by forming a double flanged joint with raised flange edges between sheets arranged alongside of each other, which are then welded together by means of a driven welding carriage, the raised flange edges being shortened in accordance with the invention shortly in front of the welding.A welding carriage suitable for this purpose is provided on its lower side, in front of a welding device as seen in the direction of travel, with a parting device which is preferably developed as driven pair of cutting rollers. In this way in particular thin sheets can be assembled with excellent quality to form a sheet panel.
Abstract:
In a bending machine especially for joining the edges of metal sheets by folding, the machine having a frame which provides supporting surfaces for the components to be folded and carrying a folding device consisting of several pairs of folding rollers (32) on a carriage (25) which can be moved along a guide (24) in the machine frame (1) by means of a drive device, the frame (1) being U-shaped with the supporting surfaces at the upper ends of the arms of the U forming an angle of 90.degree. therebetween and with one of the surfaces extending generally in the vertical direction and the carriage arranged on the yoke (2) of the U with a pivot arm (22) mounted on the machine frame for movement around an axis parallel to the direction of carriage movement to a lockable operative position at whcih a strip rail (21) on the arm extending parallel to said axis is spaced below the lower end of the one supporting surface extending generally in the vertical direction.
Abstract:
A car travels along a sheathed cable, especially a suspension cable of a bridge, with the cable sheathing being of sheet metal and forming a rabbet projecting radially outwardly and following a helical course in the lengthwise cable direction. The car has at least one drive member engaged in the rabbet grovoe limited on the side by the rabbet. The drive member can be moved by a drive device immovable relative to the car along the lengthwise axis of the cable, but movable on a track concentric with the lengthwise axis of the cable.
Abstract:
An apparatus for helically winding a strip of sheet metal into a large diameter pipe and connecting the edges of the strip by preforming and rabbeting. The edge bending for the rabbet is done in a preforming station and a rabbeting station in which the bends are sequentially and increasingly formed with multiple units at each station. Adjacent units are hinged and devices for adjusting the angular relationship between adjacent units are provided, including spacers and adjustable threaded devices. Gears permit driving multiple units at various adjustment angles.
