Abstract: An apparatus includes a photonic integrated circuit, which includes at least one splitter configured to split at least one input beam into multiple input beamlets and multiple phase modulators configured to phase-shift at least some of the input beamlets. The apparatus also includes an array of optical amplifiers configured to amplify the phase-shifted input beamlets and generate amplified beamlets. The apparatus further incudes a beam combiner configured to combine the amplified beamlets and generate an output beam. In addition, the apparatus includes a controller configured to control the phase modulators in order to adjust phasing of the phase-shifted input beamlets.

Abstract: An apparatus includes multiple antennas each configured to receive one or more incoming signals. The apparatus also includes at least one processing device configured to receive antenna measurements associated with the one or more incoming signals, where the antenna measurements include phase measurements associated with the one or more incoming signals. The at least one processing device is also configured to process the antenna measurements using multiple decision trees of a random forest regressor, where the decision trees are configured to generate multiple initial predictions of an angle of arrival associated with the one or more incoming signals. In addition, the at least one processing device is configured to combine the initial predictions in order to generate a final prediction of the angle of arrival associated with the one or more incoming signals.

Abstract: A control surface restraining system for variably preventing movement of a control surface imparted by a control actuation shaft of a control actuation section of a tactical flight vehicle includes a power take-off shaft operably connected to the control actuation shaft with a power take-off gear train and a control surface restraint. The control surface restraint is configured to variably engage the power take-off shaft, thereby locking the power take-off gear train and preventing the control actuation shaft from imparting the movement of the control surface. The control surface restraint is also configured to variably disengage the power take-off shaft, thereby unlocking power take-off gear train and allowing the control actuation shaft from imparting the movement of the control surface.

Abstract: A device includes an entrance pupil configured to receive light from a distant source. The device also includes an exit pupil configured to output the light to at least one component of an imaging system. In addition, the device includes a housing surrounding the lenses and formed of a housing material. The lenses are formed of one or more lens materials selected based on a thermo-optical coefficient of the one or more lens materials and a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the housing material. The lens materials can be selected to have a thermo-optical coefficient that is closest to the CTE of the housing material among thermo-optical coefficients of a plurality of possible lens materials.

Abstract: A method of controlling a temperature profile of an optical window comprising: measuring a temperature-dependent electrical property of a thermally sensitive material included in the optical window using an embedded electromagnetic interference shield in the optical window to determine the temperature profile of the optical window, the embedded electromagnetic interference shield including a two-dimensional array of electrically conductive wires; and based on the measurements, selectively biasing at least one wire of the two-dimensional array of electrically conductive wires to locally alter the temperature-dependent electrical property of the thermally sensitive material in at least one selected spatial region of the optical window to control the temperature profile of the optical window.
