摘要: A limb support fastening arrangement for fastening a limb support to a limb of a wearer is disclosed. The arrangement comprises a first and second fastening portion, the first portion comprising an inflatable chamber comprising an upper and lower chamber wall and a first fastener disposed proximate the upper chamber wall, the lower chamber wall being arranged in use, to extend proximate the limb of the wearer. The second portion similarly comprises an inflatable chamber comprising an upper and lower chamber wall and a second fastener disposed proximate the upper chamber wall, the lower chamber wall being arranged in use, to extend proximate the limb of the wearer. The fastener associated with the first portion is arranged to detachably couple with the fastener associated with the second portion to detachably couple the first and second portions together, by positioning the lower chamber wall of one portion over the upper chamber wall of the other portion.

摘要: An orthosis comprises a palmar splint section aligned with a palm of a hand of a human subject and a wrist and forearm splint section extending from the palmar splint section to a distance corresponding to at least a portion of a forearm of the human subject. A bladder support is pivotally connected to the palmar splint section and comprises a bladder connecting surface opposite to a surface of the bladder support facing the palmar splint section. An inflatable bladder is arranged on the bladder connecting surface and is aligned with MCP joints of the fingers of the hand. The orthosis is particularly useful for human subjects having suffered from neurological diseases or cerebrovascular accident (CVA).

摘要: Medical advantages are provided by the novel improvements made to the inflatable foot cushion of the present invention to the inflatable foot cushion of U.S. patent application Ser. No. 13/432,068 and the Inflatable Foot Cushion of U.S. Pat. No. 5,328,445, including better protection of a patient's Achilles' tendon areas; better unloading of the pressures on the patient's heels due to the increased elevation of the patient's heels above substrates; and the prevention of left and right lateral rotation of the ankles of patients wearing the novel inflatable foot cushion of the present invention by its two novel lateral cushions formed by expanding the main chamber of the improved inflatable foot cushion of the present invention there between, which novel lateral cushions cradle and stabilize the improved inflatable chamber of the present invention when it is pivoted under the improved inflatable foot cushion of the present invention.

摘要: A traction device comprises a frame, a first bladder portion, a second bladder portion, a spacer, and a pump. The first bladder expands in an outward direction a distance greater than in a transverse direction. The second bladder expands in an angular direction. The second bladder is positioned generally below and to the side of the first bladder. Upon expanding in the outward direction, the first bladder bears against the back of the user's neck. Upon expanding in the transverse direction, the first bladder applies an angular traction to the cervical spine. Upon expanding in the angular direction, the second bladder bears angularly against the back of the user's upper thoracic region.

摘要: The present invention is generally directed to an orthopedic device for use with an orthopedic cast, which can alleviate the itching sensation that can develop when a patient wears a cast, among other advantages, such as cooling the skin below the cast, reducing the moisture in the region between the skin and the cast, as well as in some cases reducing the risk of infection. As discussed in more detail below, the orthopedic device can include a sleeve that can be mounted onto a body part, e.g., a broken limb, between the skin and a surgical cast. The sleeve is sufficiently flexible so as to substantially conform to the contour of the body part. The sleeve includes a plurality of internal channels for receiving a gas from an external source, e.g., a canister of pressurized gas, and for delivering at least a portion of the received gas via a plurality of openings onto the skin below the cast. The sleeve can include a two opposed layers between which the internal channels are formed.

摘要: Systems, methods, and devices are described for providing a brace having an inflation control. The control directs fluid flow from an inflation component to one or more inflatable cells of the brace. The inflatable cells are independently inflated and deflated by the inflation component through the control. The control allows a user to create a fluid path between the inflation component and one of the inflatable cells by positioning the control in an orientation corresponding to the desired inflatable cells. Each inflatable cell is independently inflated and deflated in various orientations of the control.
