摘要： An apparatus and method for implementing a vehicle sun and rain shield that converts to a pop-up sheltered compartment. The apparatus semi-permanently attaches to the roof of any vehicle. The device is easy to install and does not interfere with the parking and storage profile of the vehicle. The device is sized to fit within the perimeter of any vehicle roof when deployed. The device is easily opened and closed to provide added sun and rain protection. The device has moveable panels that extend beyond the vehicle roof to provide sun and rain protection. The moveable panels deflect in response to contact. The moveable panels also lock in a position perpendicular with the plane of the roof to provide the pop-up sheltered compartment. The sheltered compartment is useful for storing items or providing temporary shelter for users.

摘要： A threaded rod can be pivotably coupled to the tonneau cover via a proximal end. A housing can have first and second housing portions slidably coupled to the threaded rod and moveable along the threaded rod relative to each other between locked and unlocked positions. The second housing portion can include a channel positioned to receive a downwardly disposed distal edge of an inboard flange. Locking pawls within the housing can move to engage threads of the rod to prevent movement of the channel relative to the elongate member when in the locked position. The locking pawls can move to release the threads of the rod to allow movement of the channel relative to the rod when in the unlocked position. A biasing member can apply a biasing force biasing the housing toward the proximal end of the elongate member and biasing the housing toward the locked position.

摘要： Some embodiments are directed to a tonneau side rail assembly for attachment to a vehicle bed frame that is at least partially covered by a bed frame cover, and that at least partially defines a vehicle exposed area. The tonneau side rail assembly can include a tonneau side rail that is configured to be removably attached to a tonneau assembly. The tonneau side rail can include upper and lower surfaces, an aperture being defined in each of the upper and lower surfaces such that an open space is defined between the apertures. An extender can define longitudinally opposite ends, one of the ends being configured to be rigidly secured to the vehicle bed frame, and the other of the ends being configured to be rigidly secured to the tonneau side rail so as to define a gap between the tonneau side rail and the bed frame cover.

摘要： A latch can be movably mounted to each of the side rails for movement between an unlocked position and a locked position. A release actuator can be movably mounted to the rear header to extend adjacent both latches for movement between a non-release position and a release position. When the rear header is seated in the rear header seat and the release actuator is in the non-release position, each latch engages the rear header in the locked position to lock the rear header and side rails together. When the rear header is seated in the rear header seat and the release actuator is moved toward the release position, the release actuator engages both latches and moves the latches to the unlocked position to unlock the rear header from both of the side rails.

The end face of the exterior tab extension can be positioned to engage an opposing end face of the second coupling strip within the exterior channel to positively limit longitudinal sliding movement of the second coupling strip within the exterior channel.

摘要： A tonneau cover system clamp can include first and second clamp members with first and second clamping surfaces, respectively. The second clamp member can be slidably coupled to an elongate member relative to the first clamp member. A locking mechanism can be movable to engage the elongate member to prevent lateral translation of the second clamping surface relative to the first clamping surface in response to the first and the second clamp members being in the locked position. The locking mechanism can be movable to release the elongate member to allow lateral translation of the second clamping surface relative to the first clamping surface in response to the first and the second clamp members being in the unlocked position. A biasing member can apply a biasing force biasing the first clamp member and the second clamp member toward the proximal end of the elongate member.
