摘要： An apparatus and method for implementing a vehicle sun and rain shield that converts to a pop-up sheltered compartment. The apparatus semi-permanently attaches to the roof of any vehicle. The device is easy to install and does not interfere with the parking and storage profile of the vehicle. The device is sized to fit within the perimeter of any vehicle roof when deployed. The device is easily opened and closed to provide added sun and rain protection. The device has moveable panels that extend beyond the vehicle roof to provide sun and rain protection. The moveable panels deflect in response to contact. The moveable panels also lock in a position perpendicular with the plane of the roof to provide the pop-up sheltered compartment. The sheltered compartment is useful for storing items or providing temporary shelter for users.

摘要： An open roof construction for a vehicle comprises at least a movable lever to which, by means of a pin-like member, a slide shoe is connected that, for defining a movement of the movable lever, cooperates with and moves longitudinally along a guide. The pin-like member at a first end is connected to said lever and at a second end is connected to said slide shoe and the guide and slide shoe are provided with at least one pair of cooperating guide part and slide shoe part. The pin-like member at its second end is provided with an enlarged head configured to engage the slide shoe at a side thereof facing away from the lever. The dimensions of the enlarged head are such that, as seen in a direction from the enlarged head towards the lever, at least part of said enlarged head overlaps at least one guide part.

A roof overlies the passenger compartment. The roof is comprised of a pair of roof beams extending parallel to the longitudinal axis adjacent opposed sides of the vehicle. A first forward transverse beam extends between the roof beams. A second rearward transverse beam extends between the first and second roof beams. A first removable roof panel closes a space between the first and second transverse beams. A second removable roof panel closes a space rearward of the second transverse beam. The roof panels can be assembled to form a shelf in a storage compartment of the vehicle.

A tailgate selectably closes off a rear portion of the vehicle and is positionable between a generally vertical closed position and a generally horizontal open position. A roof is bifurcated along a longitudinal axis of the vehicle. A fixed roof panel closes off a first portion of the roof. A movable roof panel is slidable along a transverse axis of the vehicle, and has a closed position edgewise adjacent to the fixed roof panel and an open position facially adjacent to the fixed roof panel. In its closed position the movable roof panel closes off a second portion of the roof. The second roof portion is exposed when the movable roof panel is in its open position. The cargo area is configurable to closed and open arrangements according to the positions of the tailgate and the movable roof panel.
