    摘要: A supporting device is provided to vertically support a coupling rod of a coupling pivotably articulated in the vertical direction to a car body underframe by a bearing block. The supporting device makes contact with the coupling rod by a support, wherein the supporting device includes a mount connected to the support which is fixed to the car body underframe of the vehicle. In order to enable the interference-free retraction of the central buffer coupling toward the car body in the event of a crash, the mount includes a connecting element by which the support is connected to the mount and which defines a rotational axis about which the support can rotate relative the connecting element. Further, at least one shearing element is provided which connects the connecting element to the support and which is designed to shear off upon the exceeding of a predetermined or definable amount of torque being transmitted from the support to the connecting element via the at least one shearing element in order to allow a rotation of the support relative the connecting element.

    摘要: A joint arrangement for connecting a drawbar to a carriage includes a push/pull device for the transmission of pushing and pulling forces arranged at the carriage end of the drawbar. The push/pull device comprises a mid-piece connected to the carriage side end of the drawbar, extending the drawbar in the longitudinal direction thereof which extends through an opening provided in the baseplate. A front spring plate and a rear spring plate are provided on the mid-piece with a front spring element between the front spring plate and the baseplate in the drawbar longitudinal direction and a corresponding rear spring element is provided between the baseplate and the rear spring plate. The front spring element and the rear spring element enclose the mid-piece of the push/pull device with a positive fit in order to guide and support the mid-piece of the push/pull device in the most effective manner possible within the baseplate and are themselves supported in the vertical direction on the baseplate and in particular on a recess region provided in the baseplate.

    摘要: A draft gear assembly includes a yoke and a coupler follower disposed within the yoke. A front compressible resilient member is disposed intermediate the yoke and the coupler follower. A rear compressible resilient member engages a back wall of the yoke at one end and engages a rear follower at a distal end. A center rod extends through the rear compressible resilient member and the rear follower and engages a shortening member. A plurality of stops members are attached to the back wall of the yoke for limiting compression of the rear compressible resilient member during buff travel. The stop members may be extended toward the coupler follower for limiting compression of the front compressible resilient member during draft travel. Alternatively, a center rod or elastomeric pads may be adapted for limiting compression of the resilient compressible members during buff and draft travel. Stops for limiting compression may be also attached to a center sill.

    摘要: An improved ball and race connection assembly for use in connecting together adjacently disposed ends of railway vehicles is provided. This ball and race connection assembly is particularly useful as a connection member in slackless type drawbar assemblies. The improved ball and race connection assembly includes a race member which is formed from a polymeric and/or composite material, specifically a resin impregnated filament wound material which is wound on a polytetrafluoroethylene/polyester mesh sleeve and cured. The use of these materials enables the race member to have sufficient strength and to be self-lubricating, thus eliminating the costs of providing a lubricating material at the ball and race interface, as is necessary when using a metal race, as well as reducing the amount of friction at this interface resulting in lower L/V ratios. Also, the filament wound race member is lightweight, resulting in an overall weight reduction of the railway vehicle connection assembly, easier to manufacture than currently used metal race members, and has excellent corrosion resistance.

    摘要: An improved drawbar connection for railroad cars reduces slack between cars and results in improved train handling. The drawbar connection fits in a standard draft gear pocket and utilizes a standard yoke, standard follower and standard coupler pin, thereby permitting the application of drawbars with minimal structural modification to cars originally equipped with conventional couplers. The usual draft gear is replaced by a filler which is relatively rigid. The filler includes a follower block, a wedge, a filler block and may include a mini-draft gear having a maximum travel of about one-half inch.

    摘要: There is provided a slackless drawbar assembly which connects the adjacent ends of a pair of railway cars together in a substantially semi-permanent fashion. The assembly includes a yoke, an adjustable blockout apparatus which has a pair of spaced end blocks and an adjustable securing device which comprises a pair of spaced wedge members. There are outwardly extending flanges on the confronting end faces of the end blocks which engage tongues or tenons on the end walls of the spaced wedge members. The adjustable securing device comprises coaxial bores through the spaced wedge members and a threaded member extending between and through the coaxial bores and threadably engaged with threads formed in at least one of the bores such that upon rotating the threaded member in one direction, the spaced wedge members will be moved together, to push the pair of end blocks apart, while upon rotating the threaded member in the other direction, the spaced wedge members will be moved apart to pull together the pair of spaced end blocks. A preferred yoke includes a rear end portion which has a front face that forms a rear seat for a blockout device. There are a top strap portion and a bottom strap portion extending forwardly of the front face of such rear end portion of the yoke. Each of such top and bottom strap portions includes a thickened portion, at its end remote from such rear end portion of the yoke, which has a bore therethrough to receive an end of a drawbar connecting pin to connect the yoke to a drawbar.

    摘要: A unitary cast draft sill for welding to the center sill of a railroad car comprises a unitary cast structure with the following elements and features: A horizontal top wall has a pair of side walls depending therefrom with a bottom portion having flanges extending horizontally outward from the side walls. A vertical inboard end wall joins the bottom portion, the side walls and the top wall and has a transition element extending from the inboard side portion thereof to telescopically enter adjacent portions of a railroad car center sill. A center filler plate pocket is formed by the inboard end wall, portions of the side walls and the top wall and an internal vertical wall spaced in the outboard direction from the inboard end wall to form a cavity opening at the bottom portion to accept and mount a center filler plate in welded relation. Rear draft lugs are formed at the outboard side of the internal vertical wall and adjoin the side walls. On the outboard end portion of the cast draft sill, it has a horizontal top striker above the coupler shank opening, a carrier to vertically support the coupler shank and a key slot through the side walls for a coupler draft key.
