    Abstract: The present disclosure is related to a snap system including a mating component and a snap component that connect by means of a snap fit or otherwise. The mating component simplifies the assembly process by combining a structural component and an attachment point. The snap component is associated with a removable component that mates with the attachment point of the mating component. The snap system includes a mating component that combines a structural component to secure a material and an attachment point to secure a snap component. The design of the structural component allows the mating component to be used with a variety of materials having a variable thickness. The mating component is a versatile feature as the structural component self-adjusts to the thickness of the material provided. The snap system decreases the amount of components necessary for manufacturing which may decrease the cost and improve the visual appeal.

    Abstract: A blind fastener includes a sleeve defining a sleeve central axis and having a sleeve shank having a distal end portion and a proximal end portion axially opposed from the distal end portion and a stop connected to the distal end portion of the sleeve shank. The sleeve defines an eccentric through-bore that extends along a through-bore axis from the proximal end portion to the distal end portion. The blind fastener includes a core bolt at least partially received in the eccentric through-bore of the sleeve, defining a core bolt central axis. A core bolt shank has a distal end portion, a proximal end portion axially opposed from the distal end portion, and a threaded portion. A core bolt head is connected to the proximal end portion of the core bolt shank. An eccentric nut is threaded into engagement with the threaded portion of the core bolt shank.

    Abstract: A blind rivet design has an exposed mandrel portion modified from the conventional and standardized mandrel to reduce amount and cost of materials required to produce the mandrel, while also minimizing costs related to production, use, and spent mandrel disposal, all while still making use of conventional riveting tools for rivet setting and maintaining rivet performance. The blind rivet also facilitates feeding of a shortened spent mandrel through conventional riveting tools and into mandrel collection devices.

    Abstract: A blind rivet assembly for securing workpieces having aligned bores with the workpieces having an open surface at an open side and a blind surface at a blind side, the blind rivet assembly including a tubular shell having an enlarged shell head adapted to be in engagement with the open surface of the workpieces, a stem having an elongated shank with a stem head at the far end of the shank and having gripping means at the opposite end adapted to be gripped by an installation tool for application of an axial pulling force, and a placement ring having an near end and a far end, and having a pre-installation orientation and a post-installation orientation, wherein in the pre-installation orientation the placement ring is disposed around a ring receiving portion of the elongated shank, and the post-installation orientation is created by axially pulling the stem towards the open side of the workpieces with an axial pulling force that forces the placement ring into a through bore which causes the shell to deform outwards and form a blind head, and wherein upon continued axial pulling of the stem, the stem progressively moves into the shell until the stem encounters a stop shoulder, whereupon material of the stop shoulder is moved into a locking portion to arrest further movement of the stem, and whereupon increased axial force on the stem shears a portion of the stem on the open side at a shearable break-groove.

    Abstract: A fastening device (10) includes a locking pin (12) and an associated pressing clip (14). The locking pin (12) includes a flat head (16) with ring-like shallow (18) therein for easy operational installation of the fastening device (12) unto the heat sink (100) and the PC board (200). A leg section (20) is provided below the head (16), including four locking legs (22) separated from one another by the slots (24) therebetween and extending downward from the head (16).     Abstract: A fastener having an internally threaded nut body, an externally threaded stem and a lock collar keyed to the nut body. The lock collar has a plurality of spring arms extending radially at an angle into the internally threaded bore of the nut body. During setting of the fastener, the stem is rotated in a tightening direction relative to the nut body. However, when the fastener is fully set, the spring arms will engage axial grooves in the stem to prevent relative rotation in a loosening direction between the nut body and the stem. This configuration forms a positive mechanical lock between the stem and the nut body and prevents the fastener from loosening and losing its clamping force, even when the fastener is subjected to high levels of stress and vibration.

    Abstract: A novel blind rivet is provided wherein the blind head is upset by a pin driven from the exposed side into a core of soft metal contained by a closed tube end which is selectively thinned to result in controlled deformation due to the internal pressure created by compressing the soft core. The closed tube end upon expanding to a predetermined shape is transformed into the blind head.This rivet offers high strength, leak-free joining. Consistant controlled snug fitting assembly is offered. The rivet is suited to installation by a tool that prevents forming loads from being transferred to the members being joined. Moreover, the rivet has lower weight and cost while providing a smoother exposed surface than prior art blind rivets.
